Californians, if you’re hitting the road this holiday weekend, be sure to AVOID Chevron. Pro tip: unbranded gas comes from the same refineries, storage tanks, and pipelines, and it meets the same state standards to keep your engine running clean, even if it doesn’t have a fancy name like ‘Techron.’  Big Oil is already making billions off Trump’s Iran War; don’t let them rip you off even more by overpaying for the brand name.

At some point there has to be an accounting, some kind of comeuppance, for Learn to Code. It's like we told an entire generation to go to barber school and then 5 years later introduced the HaircutBot9000.

Meta will layoff 8000 of its workforce starting tomorrow morning. Their net income over the last 12 months was $70,587,000,000. They could give every single one of their 79,000 workers a $440,000 bonus and still sock away over $35,827,000,000 in pure profit.

Some thoughts on VGK's response to the media regulation penalties and denying Cassidy the right to interview. It was refreshing to see the Golden Knights take some responsibility for the decision they made in Anaheim after Game 6. Clearly, the league set them straight not only with the penalties but during the appeal in New York. I understand why many feel this isn't important, and you are free to have that opinion, but the NHL firmly disagrees and now it's up to VGK to act accordingly so it doesn't happen again. As for the Cassidy situation, what was said at the podium today is a joke. Claiming that their focus is solely on the playoffs is ridiculous. It takes less than 10 seconds to grant approval for other teams to speak to the head coach they rashly discarded. Not to mention they just had six days between playoff games, there was obviously a moment to break "focus" from the postseason. What they’re doing by not allowing Cassidy to interview is deliberate yet well within their rights, as he remains under contract with VGK. If they believe his signing in Edmonton, LA, or elsewhere would seriously damage the Golden Knights’ future, the contract allows them to stand in the way. However, they’ll have to live with the fallout, and a half‑baked excuse instead of a clear explanation won’t help in they eyes of the public. It's yet another example of the ruthless nature that prioritizes nominal upgrades over human beings while continuing to further their unsavory reputation. It has had an impact on their own fan base, it will likely have an impact on the hiring of the next coach, and it will continue to have an impact on their standing with the rest of the league (both the fans and the organizations themselves). If it's worth it, for however long they are willing to stand in the way, then so be it. But if they plan on stepping aside, which I suspect they will considering the exorbitant salary that will come off the books if Cassidy coaches elsewhere, they've created yet another avoidable mess.

Kelly McCrimmon opened his media avail here in Denver by reading from a prepared statement: “Just a couple of items before we begin. We were today in New York, where we had a hearing with the National Hockey League regarding the events following game six. We missed a great opportunity that night to connect with our fans and share with them the victory of playoff series. I've always felt in a playoff series, when you win a series, you galvanize the bond with your fan base. We missed that opportunity by not having John available to do post game. That's on John for failing to do that. That's on me as a general manager of the hockey club. That's not at the feet of our comms people, who made other arrangements with each of you to accommodate tight quarters in and around our dressing room post game. We have no explanation other than to say we were wrong and to assure you that it will not happen again. The league has spoke on the matter. We have spoke on the matter. Neither John or I will be taking any questions on this. Secondly, regarding Bruce Cassidy, teams have asked for permission to speak with Bruce. We've been consistent that our focus currently is on the Stanley Cup playoffs, and the teams have respected that. I've spoken with Bruce, he understands this as well.”

Hearing Vegas has also denied LA permission to speak with Bruce Cassidy. Don’t believe Toronto has asked to talk to him as of last night.

I got no info on this but it feels like everything points to Jay Woodcroft becoming the Kings head coach. Familiarity with Holland, the division, and he’s already in SoCal, it makes the most sense.

@avappleyard @jtbourne @mnwild Definitely the best defensive Canadian center who played on the east coast. He’s better than Toews at least. Two way defensemen is the same. Going back to the 80s it’s hard to find a defenseman who was top 5 who didn’t win (offense only dudes like Housley, Karlsson excluded)

@_Neeckolai @jtbourne @mnwild ROR had 77 points in 82 games while winning the Selke. 17th amongst C's in points. Krejci (20th) and Bergeron (24th) were both top 25 in C scoring that year. And ofc Bergeron is a HHoFer who is probably the best defensive C of all time or close!

With @mnwild out... now 21 years post-lockout where Cup Winner will have at least one top ~20-25 C in NHL on team. I do think can win without "1C"... but having one makes it so much easier. Without? Need to build a team pretty masterfully as few GMs can. #NHL #Flyers
