This *perfectly* captures why exempting seniors from property taxes is such a ludicrous idea. Boomers are the wealthiest generation in America. They’re buying bigger homes than families working to support small kids. Why on *earth* should those younger taxpayers subsidize them?

@BarredinDC I'm admittedly pretty biased in favor of streateries, but it's probably worth factoring in expected tax revenue from increased restaurant sales here.
I'd bet that for most restaurants, (tax rev w/ streatery - tax rev w/o streatery) > (parking income - streatery permit fees)

Still the rent isn’t really the issue (don’t think people realize that the rent is still lower than parking revenue would be), it’s the complicated permitting process requiring architectural plans driving up cost

Re streateries - There’s a reason McDuffie and RAMW didn’t push harder for looser rules - lots of restaurants pay a lot of $ for private outdoor space and pay rent to DC for sidewalk cafes and streateries paid $0 in rent to DC for 5+ years

The fact that other teams wouldn't beat this offer is sort of my point about his actual value, and why this trade is fine on paper.
Obviously that leaves you with "well, don't trade him then", but it seems the relationship had gotten pretty rough.
The failure here for the Celtics is letting it get to that point of course. Pretty unclear to me where things went off the rails so bad.
