love the meta angle of Amy having the Doctor disappear as a kid and return into adulthood, reflect the experience child fans of the classic show had when it returned in 2005 and they were now adults, and answers that you can be a grown up and still indulge in your childhood show
Darren Mooney@Darren_Mooney

It is underdiscussed that the fifth season of “Doctor Who” sets up the classic (and often employed by “Doctor Who” device) of a woman being put in a position of choosing between a life of fun and “settling down.” And builds to the reveal Amy absolutely *can* have it all.

Yup. Just like how no one will ever be entitled to permanently write off the Green Goblin or Lex Luthor or Dr. Doom. Even if they get a great write-off, it's just the nature of the beast that, eventually, they'll be back for someone else to have their go.
George Puddy@_PicklesParker

Thats just part of the show, if you didn't create the character, and they've existed decades before you started writing for the show, you can't really be entitled to write a definitive ending for the character, its just how long running characters work. Same thing with The Doctor

Sums it up perfectly, its the same with long-running comic characters. You can have an ending, an incredible ending in a vacuum, but there should never be an expectation that it'll stick. These characters have existed long before, and will exist long after x.com/i/status/20672…

It kinda sucks in Doctor Who that major villains can never get written to have definitive endings because writers know someone else will always "want to have a go"

@mufinthemuffin5 They do, but only once he comes back in the series 10 finale. My point was moreso that Missy appears in Series 8 with no connective tissue to Simm, so I just find it a weird double standard people hold against Chibnall, when there's never been much of that with any of the Masters

The biggest issue is that it was a) so soon afterwards, and b) isn't really explained, but anybody who seriously thought the Master was going to either stay good, or never show up again, doesn't understand this show, you can't write off a character who's been returning since '71
Aaron Bailey@AaronBaileyArt

I'll never not be irritated with Doctor Who bringing back the Master and making him evil again. Missy had a beautiful arc and died siding with The Doctor and then in series 12 The Master just shows up evil again with no explanation.

@OmegaLiberal @leagueofjinxie This isnt true, he has friends, gets invited for drinks and to parties, there's literally a girl who actually likes him. He's portrayed as a pretty standard guy whose problem is that far too in his own head that he struggles to see the real connections he has

This is going to be England’s downfall later in the tournament because of Tuchel’s odd selections. They’ve now got a squad of 26 with only 3 full backs - 1 of them is made of glass, 1 of them is barely 21 and the other is Djed Spence

@gallifreymarx There was a reason it had never been done in the 60-year history of the show! It's so easy to go back to old favourites, but it's poison to what's kept it running so long - that it keeps changing and keeps moving forwards.
