Dear kid If you have been seating at home waiting to go to University in August to do an Accounting or Finance degree, drop it and go for a professional qualification immediately. You have already wasted 5 months this year, don’t go and waste another 4 years.

@Torobito_ @CrimeWatchZW It makes sense if there is evidence that they knew and were informed by the police that the boss is a wanted criminal. Then it is fair to charge Aiding and Abetting or Accessory after the fact. Truly thank you @JayDi1984 and @Torobito_ for the intel and detailed explanations

Legally, being “just employees” does not automatically remove liability under Zimbabwean law. The key issue is whether they knowingly participated in the alleged fraud. If they genuinely did not know the company had no capacity to deliver the vehicles and were simply doing ordinary administrative work, then criminal liability would be difficult to prove because fraud requires intention or guilty knowledge. However, the allegations state that they allegedly continued taking deposits and processing transactions despite knowing clients were not receiving vehicles and despite allegedly knowing the director was wanted by police. If the State proves that, then they can still be held liable as accomplices or co-perpetrators as stated in the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act. Their low salaries and the country’s unemployment situation may explain why they stayed in the jobs, and those factors can mitigate sentence, but poverty or employment pressure is generally not a complete legal defence to fraud.

Five employees of Hezy Motors Logistics have appeared in court for allegedly defrauding clients of more than US$155 000 after accepting payments for vehicle imports despite allegedly knowing the company had no capacity to deliver the vehicles. The accused, Kelly Moyo (19), Melody Karakupa (29), Bridget Tanyanyiwa (27), Paidamoyo Sunhwa (25) and Pamela T. Zambe (35), appeared before Harare regional magistrate Mrs Jesse Kufa facing charges of fraud and defeating or obstructing the course of justice. They were each granted US$200 bail and remanded to June 26. The complainants are Julia Mude and 15 others. Prosecutor Mr Rufaro Chonzi told the court that between January 1, 2025 and May 5, 2026, Hezy Motors, allegedly acting in connivance with the accused persons, advertised on social media claiming it had the capacity to import vehicles on behalf of clients when it allegedly did not. The court heard that the accused allegedly continued taking instructions from company director Hezel Mafu, who is reportedly wanted by police, and continued carrying out the alleged fraudulent activities despite allegedly knowing he was being sought by authorities. Acting on the alleged misrepresentations, several clients reportedly paid deposits for vehicles that were never delivered, resulting in a combined prejudice of more than US$155 000. @_RosesBloom @CrimeWatchZW Normally Zim cops are quite thorough on this .I assume they'd have gone to the premises and told the staff the situation and for them to call the cops if he contacted but either way arresting them + 200 fine is not in the interest of justice. A warning was enough.

@zuberikaine @CrimeWatchZW Exactly what we need to know. How are junior staff liable when they have no decision making powers? They were literally just going to work and probably getting paid ma 250-300. Why are they now getting arrested when they are only witnesses to the money coming in?

@CrimeWatchZW Limited liability exists precisely so that liability stays with the company and its directors, not junior staff with no decision-making authority. Hezel Mafu designed this scheme, took the money and is now nowhere to be found; while a 19-year-old sits in court. That's not justice

@KingHasichinhu @CrimeWatchZW What evidence is there kuti they had knowledge the boss was a wanted criminal? How long had they been working for the company? If this case arrests them it means ¼ the small companies in H, employees are in trouble too. Especially the insurance ones too.

@JayDi1984 @CrimeWatchZW But did they really know though that the boss was on the run? Did the police come on the premises and inform them? Or it was a private matter that they only assumed boss is not coming to work, as an employee most only do their job and not ask the boss's working hours.

@_RosesBloom @CrimeWatchZW I suspect theirs would be aiding a criminal since its alleged they knew their boss was on the run because of this bussiness but they still communicated with him and still took deposits. Not show why the police didn't close the bussiness

@OnwardGibson @econetzimbabwe @econet_support @econetzimbabwe There is need for security but requiring physical office visits with a malfunctioning system is counterproductive. Implementing digital authentication like ID uploads & biometric selfies would clear the backlog faster & better customer service.

After pursuing her higher education at the University of Zimbabwe, earning a Bachelor of Law Honours degree in 2008. She furthered her academic journey by obtaining a Master of Laws degree in International Criminal Law and international Commercial Litigation from the University of Cambridge in 2011. Upon her return to Zimbabwe in 2011, she established her own legal practice. Her legal acumen and commitment to justice led her to participate in various significant endeavours, including a public inquiry on the introduction of bond notes in Zimbabwe. Yes. She worked hard for many years and can afford to drive a fucking Jaguar. There are other ways to “make it” without putting on a pamper and baby powder to twerk for Ganandaz Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

#dandarostreets Zimbabwe’s telecom regulator Potraz says rules for data rollover and transfers are already in place, designed to protect consumers from losing bundles they’ve paid for. Rollover allows unused data to carry into the next billing cycle, while transfers let subscribers share bundles within the same network before expiry. But not all packages qualify, and operators set their own conditions, leaving many users confused about what rights actually apply. Despite these protections, subscribers still complain of early expiry dates, inconsistent terms across networks, and technical glitches that cause bundles to vanish. The regulator urges consumers to read expiry rules carefully, choose rollover‑eligible bundles, and report failures. The message is clear: treat your data like money, because without vigilance, what you’ve paid for can disappear before you use it.
