I'm rather proud of how my SpriteKit particle editor is coming. The automatic conversion between CGFloat and Double makes life a lot easier for proxying values to SwiftUI. I even had an opportunity to use one of @KenneyNL's smoke textures.😀Lots of cleanup left, but feeling good.

@steipete This seems like it’s focused on real time or low level systems. Is it otherwise shoehorned into the language, or is it something that a dev can only use if they need it?

Swift has so many edge cases and special rules now.

@SnazzyLabs Could the sides be assembled opposite one another (left should be right and vice versa?). I’m not quite sure how the pieces are assembled from the brief video, but that definitely brings back memories of similar errors from my family’s furniture store.

@nathanielmckain @AshleyHomeStore They either used the wrong drawer slides or they intended the member holes to be near the rear of the shelf and they got them backwards at the factory.

@twostraws I don't know if anyone else noticed it, but that's not even the top of the line M4 Max they're using according to the description. Its the 32 core variant with 36 GB of Ram, rather than the 40 core variant with all the ram that is available to the GPU under the unified arch.

@corybarlog While I doubt the team needs to hear it, without the new direction, I wouldn't have been inclined to pick up a GoW title again. I wonder if others would've. Whatever that game would've been certainly wouldn't have influenced and changed me for the better like the Norse saga has.

I've some bad personal news. The first post in my "Code is Just" thread, the best piece of work I've ever done, has somehow got deleted. All bookmarks to it and all stats associated with it are gone. All the quote tweets from thousands of people will now reference a deleted tweet. I'm absolutely devastated. It remains a work I'm immensely proud of. I cannot even begin to process the loss, which sounds absurdly selfish given all the grief in the world today, but there you go. It's a different kind of grief. If @x can retrieve the post with its stats I'd be eternally grateful. I don't know how this could have happened. There is an image of the original post in this tweet, and also a link to the second tweet in the original thread, which remains intact. I’ve given up on Musk. I was patient. I’ve also temporarily muted a ton of accounts. I don’t know how long I can bear to stick around here. It really is through gritted teeth. So many people typing so much entitled, uninformed and outraged bullshit here that it’s hard to think.

@shahidkamal To me, that indicates either it is more prevalent or the algorithm has changed to up the rate of that because of engagement. In my opinion, it’s a sad shell of what it once was. In other news, you have an additional newsletter sub.

@shahidkamal @elonmusk @RelayFM Personally, the reason I use Twitter/X is often because the broader art community doesn’t seem to have a good replacement (though I hope one day, Threads could be that). On my “main” and professional account, I often see rage-baiting (which I had culled out of Twitter prior).

Announcement: I’ve lost about 10% of my followers since @elonmusk bought Twitter. All prior organic growth has stalled completely . Here’s my speculative take on why: ➡️ Many high profile mutuals have left. For example, pretty much all my buddies from @RelayFM , many of my games industry contacts, many, many others. ➡️ The algorithm no longer prioritises my replies to mutuals, either that or they’re ignoring me and I don’t think that’s the case. Prior mutuals with comparable or higher follower counts used to respond to my replies to their posts with either a like, an RT or a reply. Now, nothing. It's as if I don't show up in their replies despite my paying for the subscription. I know that some people are using block blockers, but those have become more discerning, allowing mutuals through. ➡️ Cull of inactives and bots. I’m pleased with that, showing a sample of posts to that category artificially degrades reach. That's how most social algorithms work. A small sample of your followers gets to see something, and if a certain proportion engage within a certain time frame, your post gets served up to a wider group. If the initial serving hits inactives or bots, you're hitting accounts that will never engage ➡️ Many new accounts signing up are likely using Twitter as a sales tool. I'm never going to reach those people, nor would I want to. ➡️ But the combination of the first two is like a digital stroke, a lot of my network just got taken out and consequently so has a lot of my prior reach. This is likely why I’m not reaching new people and it's likely the biggest reason why I'm seeing such attrition. I'm totally accepting of people unfollowing me if they don't like what I share. It's good feedback. But I don't think that's what's happening here. My impressions and engagements are way, way down compared to before. What this means is that this place has undeniably changed. That's fine. Everything does. I need to accept it and adapt, or leave. Meanwhile, I’m impressed with the pace of feature roll out. Let’s not forget how much we used to complain about Twitter before. It wasn’t some paradise. Far from it. Why don't I leave? The competition is not great, and is likely to repeat many of the same mistakes or just create different ones. These places are a reflection of society, which is an indictment I guess. Much of my network is still here. I don't want to put in the work of a digital stroke rehab and move to say, Mastodon, because I'd be splitting my efforts. I'm not an influencer trying to expand my market reach. I’m a writer and I want my writing to reach those who'd benefit from it. (Wait, maybe they’re the same thing…) Thats something a platform should take care of. Twitter used to do that. X does not. I would like to find a way to fix this. Perhaps I am the problem. Given this scenario, I’m unlikely to release the next instalment of my Code is Just story here. @shahidkamal If you're interested in looking at a new "indie" engine, there's one called Hazel that's being worked on at the moment. I don't know if it'd be anything close to what you're looking for, but a thought in case you really don't *want* to go to a bigger engine.

With all that said, I think I will likely still go with Unreal Engine.

What a morning! 😮‍💨 Incredibly proud to be part of this team. I’m obviously deep in the koolaid drinking here, but I really think we’ve built a paywall system that’s incredible compelling. Silly simple to add, yet scales up to highly customizable if you’re fussy (like me 😅)
