I've hardly been Forza's number 1 defender but why exactly are people losing their minds about this? It's so clearly a lower LOD model because they don't want a 200k+ polygon car prop fully rendered in the overworld for optimization sake Most of the FH6 hate I see is so forced

@_Shinyodd_ because it proved the customization system STILL has not changed in like 15 years. same awful tire profiles, same awful fitment, same dull paint, same half baked livery system, same old car models from as far back as Motorsport 2, same old wheel models with weak outdated spec

@LouisSparky To be fair Forza have set themselves up for this hyper-analysis of 3D models by failing to address their shortcomings in that area for such a long time So I'm not too surprised a single low LOD scene was enough to trigger online debate about it

@LJITimate @7ndrew @_Myranium_ This does sound like the best solution, but I doubt they'll change it, because it won't make or break their gamepass sales that they generate So it'll remain this way until it becomes the next "Forza S15" tier issue (for which we'll maybe see a fix arrive by Forza Horizon 12)

@7ndrew @_Shinyodd_ @_Myranium_ Distance is simpler to fit in a tweet, but yeah, screen percentage is usually the standard and is what I'd hope for. I actually don't know what forza does for the rest of its world props, I'm assuming it's distance based on the dumb 100x zoom console war comparisons you see here

@_Myranium_ @LJITimate This is poor, the photo mode should really render LOD's by distance because it's supposed to capture a higher quality render of the scene than you'd normally see in actual gameplay (where the difference would be less noticable) I believe many other games manage to do this fine

@LJITimate I don't see how that's a big problem, the vast majority of racing games will not render the max LOD for NPC vehicles because it's a waste of resources This S2000 isn't even an AI car, it's a prop, I think it should just render LOD0 upon the transition to the purchase screen imo

@_Shinyodd_ I think the lod system is a whole problem to itself tbh. That AI cars, other players, and world props never use LOD0 while the player car always does seems like a technical holdover that should be updated by now. Car LODs should be based on camera distance, like everything else.

@IModdedMy3DS Yeah the first showcase was generally pretty poor, an anti-advertisement if ever I saw one But this S2k is definitely still a 360 era model with a XONE era body kit crudely morphed to fit it, it's poor in one way, but people are focused on critiquing the wrong things as usual

@_Myranium_ That's what happens when you mash a new body kit on to a deformed xbox 360 model But the model quality is completely dictated by LODs and looks just fine The model accuracy is another issue that plagues modern Forza as a whole (which FH6 will sadly only patch about maybe 10% of)

@IModdedMy3DS I don't see how this is IGN's fault though? This is just what the game is like by design Maybe they could make the higher LOD pop-in when the camera transitions to the purchase screen? Or maybe it's meant to do that & this was just a bug But it's a very minimal issue either way

Never understood how/why some people associate a washed out color grade with realism Contrary to popular belief, I have been outside many times in my life, and I don't think I've ever found a sunny day between Spring and Autumn dull or undersaturated

Sth that bothers me about FH6 is how washed out it is. Barely any part of the picture goes above 40% saturation, the greenery seems dehydrated because of how grey it is ...and the road is orange. I tried to "fix" it in Lightroom, I'll let y'all decide if it's an improvement 🧵👇
