The pie potentially infinite and needs incentive to grow it in a real way, that's capitalism. Burocracy can't get close. But location matters and as our households must spend 25% of income on imports, fuel, hard goods, medicines, and the only way can pay for that is with dairy, fruit and meat, we better be damn careful who we have creating households here because its not so damn easy to make the country richer. As is shown by our decent from #3 in 1960 to #38 or so today...

it's all very well to say 'don't worry about how the pie is sliced, just grow the pie!' but a) the pie is never infinite. so the question of government is how we distribute & grow resources b) the pie has shrunk under this government & ordinary people's slices have shrunk most
Joseph Mooney MP@JosephMooneyMP

Generally speaking the Left sees things through a lens of scarcity (there are only limited resources, there are only limited opportunities to make money, therefore we must control everything as much as possible, to ensure we can allocate the limited resources we have, and work out how to share one pie around). Again generally speaking, the Right sees things through a lens of opportunity and abundance, there are unlimited resources - although we might not have worked out how to access them yet; there is an unlimited opportunity to create more wealth by creating things of value to others; we can bake many more pies (often called “growing the pie”). Now there are people who self-identify as right-wing and see the world through a deficit lens, and there are people who self-identify as left-wing and see the world through an abundance lens (although not many in my experience), so it isn’t always a perfect metric. And it isn’t to discount the challenges that there can be in baking more pies. It is often hard work and requires tenacity, commitment and creativity. But that mindset is crucial - if you don’t decide to bake more pies, you will only focus on cutting up the pie that has been put on the table by others.

@1nzmw Was on the 27H bus from Commerce St recently, and as it was driving through University of Auckland, there were more East and South Asia students than White or Māori Kiwis.

This election is 100% globalist vs nationalist here in NZ and the rest of the west is swinging back towards nationalism. NZF is our ONLY nationalist party. To understand why you need to vote nationalist requires an essay not a post. But at least here on X, if you don't switch off, you may find out.

The issue with most people who don’t understand @nzfirst ‘s direction and policies is that they’re genuinely uneducated about the political history of NZ. They’re also too lazy to research and understand it. There’s a second crowd that’s simply too stubborn or exhausted to change their views or admit they could be wrong. The third crowd are just pure anti-NZ fucktards who do understand, but are such nasty lying bitches that they’ll ignore, twist and deny the truth anyway. Whichever group you fall into, wake the fuck up and stand for NZ.

It's political history founded in an understanding of how our small remote island economy can work. Not some northern hemisphere Marxist ningkompoops ideological steam-rolled agenda. New Zealand struggles to figure out what worked. We were rescued by frozen and chilled refrigeration. Our bulk soft commodities boomed and made our 1.7 millions #3 in the world income the 50 and 60s. Bulk soft commodities STILL pay for everything we buy over seas. 25% of household spending gets sent offshore. It must be sent, to pay for fuel, hard goods and pharmaceuticals. Dairy, Meat and Fruit pay for everything. Can we double our dairy production and be profitable at this distance?? Probably not. That means fast population growth makes us poorer per capita. And right now we are at #28 on the list. Do we really want to go even lower??

@Strange_G @nzfirst The trur story of "the wealth of our nation" needs to be promoted somehow. Its been the truth since Adam Smith. The post WW2 globalist agenda, "greater integration", polluted reality in a way our forefathers or even the "(great) post WW2 globalist architects" could not imagine.

@garyseconomics Dude, the sad truth is that a large slice of the population can't contribute to modern society. Unless we let those that can do so, we go backwards. Its a balance because no one wants the incapable ones to suffer. But unless the capable ones generate surpluses everyone suffers.

Perhaps the minister could explain why she thinks the population needs to keep rising even if NZers themselves prefer to have fewer children on average or, in many cases, to decamp to better opportunities in Australia. Genuinely puzzling stuff.co.nz/politics/36097…

It’s the first time since the Second World War that a different party than the Labor Party or Liberal Party are on first place in a poll or election. The One Nation Party has seen record-fast growth, having won just 6% in the national election in May 2025. One Nation - 32% Labor Party - 28.5% Liberal Party - 16.5% The Greens - 11.5% Australians are now sending a clear signal that stopping mass-immigration is their primary political concern. The next election is expected in early 2028
