This wasn’t ancient history. I remember it. South Australia once refined its own fuel locally, reliably and strategically. Now we’ve outsourced it all and we’re shocked prices keep on climbing. Poor energy policy design and implementation has serious consequences.

The fuel crisis has been created by decades of the net-zero obsession destroying the ability to use our own resources. Labor’s fix, to halve the fuel excise, doesn’t go far enough. It needs to be removed completely for the next three months. Most importantly of all, we need to ditch the net-zero obsession which is only making us more reliant on other countries for our basic fuel and food needs.
