Last week, a friend of mine delivered a landing page for a client. Clean code, responsive design, shipped before the deadline. The client looked at it, said it "didn't match the vision," and refused to pay. My friend had no recourse. The platform sided with the client. That's literally two weeks of work for Zero naira or dollars. And the Crazy part is that, These kind of stories is not special, It happens every day. So I Built @_Verifree, a Freelance Platform Where AI Is the Judge. No Humans, Bias or BS. Demo Link: youtu.be/ZJMl1YQ1AvI 🧵🔻

Special Thanks Building this during a two-week hackathon was not a solo effort and I want to acknowledge the people who made it possible. To the GenLayer team, @MuncleUscles @raskovsky @cognocracy @RahilBuilds, thank you for building infrastructure that actually makes ambitious ideas like this possible. The documentation, the Studio, the Discord support, all of it made the difference between a prototype and something real. To the GenLayer community members @autoporta @emark2_0 @Mfon_crypto who answered questions in Discord at odd hours, tested things, and gave honest feedback, That kind of support is rare and I genuinely appreciate it. And to everyone who believed the idea was worth building before there was anything to show, thank you for that too. @_Verifree is for every freelancer who ever delivered good work and did not get paid for it.

What comes next? The hackathon deadline is now. But VeriFree is not done. The next phase is real payment rails, expanding the dispute mechanism with a tiered appeal system, and building a reputation marketplace where clients can filter freelancers by verified specialty. The long-term vision is a full freelance ecosystem where every agreement, payment, and verdict is trustless by default. Freelancers deserve to get paid for good work. on the other hand, clients deserve to receive what they paid for. The middle layer that currently decides which one of them wins needs to disappear. VeriFree is the start of that.

The Intelligent Contract is written in Python using the GenLayer SDK, deployed on GenLayer Studio and also running on Testnet Bradbury. The frontend is Next.js 15 with Tailwind CSS and Framer Motion. Wallet connection runs through MetaMask with a custom EVM integration. The contract handles profiles, jobs, applications, milestones, verification, and disputes entirely on-chain. The GitHub is live at github.com/Emman442/verif…

Why GenLayer and Nothing Else? I want to be straight about this. When I thought of @_Verifree, i discovered it is not possible on Ethereum. It is not possible on Solana. It is not possible on any existing blockchain because deterministic smart contracts cannot read a webpage and form an opinion about its quality. They can only check if a condition is true or false. @GenLayer 's Intelligent Contracts can read live web content, understand natural language, and reason about subjective quality. When combined with Optimistic Democracy consensus, those judgments become trustless because multiple independent LLM validators must agree before anything executes. It is the only infrastructure in the world that makes a product like VeriFree architecturally possible. That is not marketing. It is just true.

Then there is the dispute system. And This one is personal. On Upwork, disputes take days. Sometimes weeks. You submit a ticket, wait for a human reviewer, go back and forth, and usually the platform just picks a side arbitrarily. On VeriFree, if a freelancer feels the AI judged their work wrongly, they raise a dispute. They submit additional evidence, write an explanation, and the Intelligent Contract re-evaluates the work with all of it considered. The whole thing resolves in minutes not days, thanks to @GenLayer running AI consensus at machine speed.

The AI shortlist feature is one I'm genuinely proud of. When multiple freelancers apply for a job, the client can ask the contract to rank applicants automatically. It reads every cover note, compares it against the job requirements and milestones, factors in each freelancer's on-chain reputation score, and returns a ranked list with reasoning. The client still makes the final call but the good part is that, they are not reading 30 cover notes alone anymore.

Here are The Features Worth Talking About The acceptance checklist system is the core of everything. Instead of a binary "done or not done," clients define exactly what done looks like in plain language. The AI evaluates meaning, not keywords. "The design should feel modern and clean" is something VeriFree can actually judge because it understands context.

Freelancers browse the board, apply with a cover note, and the client picks who to hire. Once selected, the freelancer does the work, submits a URL as proof, and the Intelligent Contract takes over. It fetches the content at that URL, reads it, and checks it against every item on the acceptance checklist. Google Docs, GitHub repos, deployed websites, Twitter posts, it can read all of them. When validators agree on a verdict, payment fires automatically. No delays or middlemen required.

Here's How It Actually Works A client visits VeriFree, connects their wallet, and posts a job. They write the title, describe the work, set a deadline, and define their acceptance checklist in plain English. Things like "the article should be at least 800 words," "the landing page should be mobile responsive," or "the Twitter thread should mention GenLayer at least twice." They deposit their budget into escrow and the job goes live on the job board.

optimistic-democracy.genlayer.com The whole thing runs on @GenLayer's Optimistic Democracy mechanism, which means multiple independent LLM validators evaluate the work simultaneously and reach consensus before any money moves. This means One AI cannot be bribed, one validator cannot be gamed. The verdict and full reasoning are stored permanently on-chain for anyone to see. I saw these problems and built @_Verifree So What Exactly is VeriFree? VeriFree is a decentralized freelance escrow platform built on GenLayer. Clients post jobs with plain English success criteria. Freelancers complete the work and submit a URL and a small description/note. Then an Intelligent Contract reads the deliverable directly from the web, evaluates it against every agreed criterion, and either releases payment to the freelancer or returns funds to the client. No human arbitrator, customer support or waiting.

discord has played a meaningful role in Re’s journey so far. we’re keeping it as a space for holders & users, but evolving how it’s used. this is something we’ve thought about deeply, and it reflects the direction we believe Re needs to take long term. as others have noted, DeFi is going mainstream, this shift feels like part of that transition.
