UPDATE: Letters from Leo can now independently confirm that the meeting took place — and that the Vatican was so alarmed by the Pentagon’s tactics that Pope Leo XIV shelved plans to visit the United States later this year. Many in the Vatican saw the Pentagon’s reference to an Avignon papacy as a threat to use military force against the Holy See.
Christopher Hale@ChristopherHale

NEW: A stunning new report claims that the Pentagon summoned Pope Leo XIV’s top American diplomat and threatened him after the U.S.-born pontiff gave his January state-of-the-world address. Leo used the address to denounce a world ruled by “a diplomacy based on force” and “zeal for war.” thelettersfromleo.com/p/the-pentagon…

The Pentagon summoned the Pope's ambassador, told him the United States has the military power to do "whatever it wants," and warned that the Church better take its side. They even invoked the Avignon Papacy, a dark chapter in history when a government used military force to bend the Church to its will. So where exactly does this end? If the Pope refuses to fall in line, what's the next move, bomb the Vatican? thedailybeast.com/trump-official…

Israel killed Rana today in Beirut, Lebanon. Not a fighter. Not a threat. She was delivering medicines and aid to displaced families. A woman devoted to saving lives.

I don’t think people around the world realize how bad the attack on Lebanon was today. It’s BAD. Like 9/11 BAD. Hospitals are overflowing and do not have enough blood. We still don’t know what the death toll is. This is TERRORISM. Pure and Simple. April 8. Never forget.

There are some people in the Iranian diaspora (mostly in LA) that will talk about how much they wish they could visit Iran but they can’t because they’re exiled. They’re not. I PROMISE you they’re not exiled, I doubt the Iranian government even knows they exist because most of them don’t even have Iranian passports. They simply just don’t want to go to Iran but they need an excuse so that they don’t look like cunts and what’s better than a fake sob story about being exiled from your homeland?

The strength of that community is visible even when it immigrates. I went to school with many Iranian Jewish people. Some of the most thoughtful, intelligent, well-mannered people I've *ever* met. It is completely false that Judaism and Jewish communities can only thrive in the violent apartheid mania of Zionism. This is a great thread:

Jewry in Iran is incredibly rich. I try to document various Jewish traditional clothing & arts in my free time as the zionist entity seeks to erase these identities. Here are some of my personal faves from Iran

Painting "May you wake up in your homeland" by Palestinian Artist Rania Amodi. The art of Rania rises like a quiet defiance—where memory, identity, and longing are woven into forms that refuse to be forgotten. Her work does not simply speak; it endures, carrying the soul of a people through beauty shaped by resilience.

The Israeli army has bombed the Qasmiyeh bridge, which connects the cities of Tyre and Saida. The south is now almost completely cut off from the rest of the country. This will cause a humanitarian disaster.

@rozpersian 🙄🙄 After that I tried to remind him that the sanctions were why everything was so expensive there- but he wanted to get off the phone. Which was actually fine by me- it was so ridiculous anyways.
