Marbel Towers, its representatives and agents are interdicted from building, erecting any structures. 2. Marbel Towers, its employees, agents, contractors and/or any other person or persons acting through it, be and are interdicted and restrained from occupying or permitting the occupation or use of any of the structures identified by the City as non-compliant with applicable building regulations and/or fire safety requirement. 3. Marbel Towers shall, within 72 hours of this Order, cordon off and/or seal all structures identified by the City as non compliant; ensure that such structures are not occupied or accessed by any person, and shall take all reasonable steps to secure the property, including erecting adequate fencing or barricading; placing clear and visible warning signage and preventing unauthorised access. 4. Marbel Towers shall forthwith remove all structures encroaching upon municipal property and/or public pavements or road reserves. 5. The parties shall engage in bona fide mediation within twenty days of this Order, if required and the mediation shall be conducted by a mutually agreed mediator, failing which by one appointed by the Chairperson of the Johannesburg Society of Advocates. 6. Whilst the Ghanaian foreign minister is scoring political points and impressing their master, I have this to say: The Black people of South Africa did not fight apartheid for Africa as a whole, but for South African citizens. The whole country is playing politics and shows no care in the world to listen to why the people of South Africa are crying. You want to tell me that even after finding out that only 10 people were legal, no one said, “Wait, whoa, South Africans are right and our people were wrong”? Like no one sees that as a problem? Just because this is AFRICA?

You can’t have an honest conversation about illegal immigration with people who don’t experience the pressure on public healthcare, don’t live in those communities and are hell bent on pretending there isn’t a problem.

A balanced response by government and embassies requires acknowledging the citizens’ concerns, engaging in dialogue, and implementing fair solutions that strengthen both national security and social cohesion. Only then can conflict be transformed into an opportunity for trust-building and effective governance. Political rhetoric or sloganeering will not persuade the citizens to back down, because their demands are rooted in concrete lived realities rather than abstract words.
