A thing that kept me atheist/agnostic for years, and I have even said it on here, is how could Christ be God if, on the cross, he had his "moment of weakness" and said, "Oh God, Oh God, why has thou forsaken me?" I have used this exact point over and over to "prove" that Christ was talking to God so therefore he couldn't be God. Last night, on TikTok of all places, a young lady came on and said to turn to Psalms 22 verse 1 and read. So I did. She then explained. "Christ did not chose those words as a sign of weakness! Christ chose those words to proclaim to all around him that he is the Messiah! Why? Because Psalms was written centuries before. The people gathered there that day saw Psalms 22 become real! They new it by heart. They had read it their entire lives. They read these words! "7All who see me mock me; they hurl insults, shaking their heads. 8 “He trusts in the Lord,” they say, “let the Lord rescue him. Let him deliver him, since he delights in him.” They then saw Christ mocked by the sign "The king of the Jews" and the crown of thorns placed upon his head. They recalled these words... "16 Dogs surround me, a pack of villains encircles me; they pierce[e] my hands and my feet. 17 All my bones are on display; people stare and gloat over me. 18 They divide my clothes among them and cast lots for my garment. And they saw exactly so. The Romans nailing him to the cross. Piercing his side. Gambling for his garments.... The people there that day SAW with their eyes all that had happened...... And then Christ looked down from the cross and said, "My God, My God, why has thou forsaken me" just as the first verses of Pslams 22 is. And in an instant, every single person there realized scripture from hundreds of years before that day had 100% came true right before them. The piercing of hands and feet. The gambling for his clothes. The mockery. Just as David had written in their holy books long before Christ had came. And they knew. They knew they just watched their Savior willingly sacrifice his life and proclaim to all that it is done. It was not Christ questioning the father as I always thought. It was the opposite. It was Christ showing the people, in an instant, that the prophecy of the Old Testiment had been laid true. The Messiah had given all he had to give to show his people they were free. He proved it by showing them that the events of that day were completely beyond his control, but they still happened exactly as Pslams said it would. It was not Christ who proved to them he was the Messiah by his actions that day. They would have never believed him for hecwas already "guilty" of blasphemy . It was Pslams, and they could not ignore the truth any longer. Christ opened all of their eyes with those few.... little.....words.... The ultimate sacrifice, as I was told for all these years but couldn't understand. I still don't understand. Not at all. But the picture is becoming more clear. Christ went on that cross a "blasphemer" and came down as the King for speaking those words.
