@MinuteofZombie The testing doesn’t make the bolt more reliable. It proves the bolt is more reliable. The bolt is the bolt. It isn’t less of a bolt for lack of testing. Few.

If you use COTS hardware you will absolutely lose reliability, survivability and quality, I 150% guarantee you. It won’t have test data that’s mil spec, it won’t be qualified for the combat environment, it won’t be validated from flight. Every part in a Tomhawk has 150 pages of qualification test data and verification that represents YEARS of several engineers’ lives. Some of them I know actually. It’s not free. That bolt is $180 bc we tested it 174 different ways. McMaster Carr fucking didn’t. QED: Lower quality, reliability and survivability. You will be building a new, cheaper, lower quality product. Maybe you’re fine with that but 1. Now it isn’t really a tomahawk clone 2. the cost savings aren’t magical Anduril-ness. They’re because of reduced reliability, quality, survivability.
TheGoldenAge@ROlsen92862576

@MinuteofZombie @1mf_dave No but cheaper is very possible. Just use off the shelf stuff. The thing separating a quality bolt from an aerospace company bolt is a 180$ price tag.

@mert I built an app for a ruck relay event I help coordinate. Tight integration with RunSignup api, oath, volunteer and participant data syncing. Basically the only way to time the event is with a one off solution or $$$ we don’t have. Best $200 I’ve spent in awhile

I came out of a mushroom trip realizing we must allow people to lose in order to make progress, that trying to save everyone inevitably leads to collapse, that inequality is the engine of all growth, from evolution to economics to science. Not exactly a scientific insight, but not fluffy hippy stuff either.
David Sun@arcticinstincts

Has anyone ever come out of these “profound” psychedelic trips with a verifiable scientific insight or breakthrough in physics or psychology or something? Can you fix Africa now? Why do these trip reports just read like Eckhart Tolle Burning man Deepak Chopramaxxed guruslop

@chrismartenson There simply isn’t enough material in a human neck to stop such a high energy round. I’m confused how people don’t comprehend this.

Man! I am having a block-a-thon party tonight! So many accounts suddenly convinced that Charlie Kirk was shot from the front with a .30-06 against all known physics and odds. You know, becuase "I shot a deer once" and "bullets do weird things, sometimes!" This activity is NOT organic. Who is funding this? I mean, which government or company?

@chrismartenson Seeing an ammunition company with over 100K followers going to bat for the FBI narrative yesterday was one of the most astroturfed things I've ever seen.

@IanCarrollShow Journalism is not the badge of honor you think it is. The topic here is projectile ballistics. Who’s a better arbiter of that topic? A random Internet personality? Or a manufacturer of ballistic projectiles? Moron

Notice how a random ammunition store is suddenly the arbiter of truth in journalism??? Weird… Hey Fenix- post videos of your esteemed bullets being stopped by something comparable to a neck. Because right now you’re looking like you’re paid to be here trying to pull an appeal to authority fallacy. We weren’t born yesterday.

In other words they replicated exactly none of what happened that day which was the entire premise of my presentation. Thank you for proving my point. Thanks buddy we got this from here, you can go back to driving taxis again.

No I knew that about you. Watched you on Timcast and all. What I meant (I figured obviously) was that you popped into the journalism space out of nowhere. Right when we needed some experts to shill the fed narrative that Charlie was the man of steel and his neck stopped a bullet that can through and through a moose. All very interesting.

We've been around since 2016, buddy, serving thousands of consumers across the country with tens of millions of rounds of ammunition that we manufacture, here in our factory. With real employees, real equipment, real engineering, and real science. All the while talking shit about the government, refusing to comply with COVID requirements, calling out local politicians, and fighting anti gun legislation at every opportunity. You'd think a journalist would've done his research and figured that out. You on the other hand - literally, actually, appeared out of nowhere in 2023. If it wasn't for the charity of Joe Rogan you'd likely be back to delivering pizzas by now. Cute story though.
Ian Carroll@IanCarrollShow

lol- sorry Mr ammunition store that came from nowhere. This is called journalism- and just because you can write lots of fancy words on paper does not make you the arbiter of truth. Show us a video of one of your .30-06 rounds being stopped or better yet- do it 38 times like @chrismartenson and then we’ll talk.

@Stealth_1666 @Rebels_Raiders Simple fact is his principles aligned with his bias, stemming from his friendship with a competitor. Can’t say I wouldn’t want a friend like that in my court even if he did go off bald cocked. Take his “take” with a grain of salt, it’s genuine but transparently biased.

I’d already moved on from this weekend’s little circus had some fun, called it a day. But apparently the show must go on, because I’m seeing a new wave of chatter popping up. So here’s my quick take: The original point a complete mischaracterization of RÈBÈLs RÄIDÈRs is long gone. Now the blue checkmarks are circling, slapping their own branding on 15 different spinoff conversations, and forming their usual little echo chambers. Cœl. You know what no one’s talking about? Not a single person who actually owns RÈBÈLs RÄIDÈRs gear has said anything negative. Not one. In fact, they’ve been posting their kits side by side with others, saying they run it all the time and love it. So while the new blue checks are busy, subtweeting & pondering dime store philosophies, just remember: no one who actually touches my gear had nothing but güd things to say Enjoy your Sunday brøthers

@braxton_mccoy Claiming his products are shit tier is where you are wrong. You can stand on business with “made in America or gtfo”, that’s a principled take / valid critique. Made in Vietnam? Yes. Shit tier? Not even remotely. You undermine your own message by slinging falsehoods.

I got tired of seeing his shit-tier vietnamese stuff, which is a direct competitor to a personal friend, marketed in my replies. Especially on posts where I am bragging up a product because it’s great. Wtf does the guy’s service have to do with any of that? That’s irrelevant
Boog Redux@TxBoogAlorian

@braxton_mccoy Nobody has a problem with you supporting an American made product. Shitting on a hard working veteran, who is doing his best to provide a product at an price some people find more affordable, got us to this point

@Rebels_Raiders It’s more tangential but you frequently post a joking post related to current events. Also you are probably the only vendor I see doing such reflective and open market research in the public sphere. It’s like 80/20 a good thing. That said, goat gang, love the gear

I was talking to my industrial designer and liaison the other day, telling him I really want to go on the offensive call out companies, industry personalities, and even the overused tropes we all see online. He told me one of the strengths of RÈBÈLs RÄIDÈRs is that I don’t get into drama, that I keep the focus on funny, creative stuff instead. Is that how I’m viewed? It’s ok if it is, I’m just curious.

@Rebels_Raiders To me the biggest thing with housing is buying income streams. You can roughly map out costs before purchase, you can do all the math. Just hard to find deals the pencil out. But even if you don’t “cash flow” big money, the equity built by buying rental income streams is 👌
