@__EIRE__ @joelmuzz @Spud_Almighty @Pirat_Nation Go to literally any store and most items you purchase to own say “not for resale”
You’re wrong

GOG has taken a shot at Sony's decision to stop making PlayStation game discs in 2028, reminding people why many PC gamers like DRM-free games.
GOG posted on X:
"Download the offline installer of any of your games on GOG, save it to a disc, and it's yours forever. You don't need a storefront's permission to play what you bought."
GOG lets you download offline installers for every game you buy.
That means you can back them up and install them anytime, even without the GOG launcher or an internet connection.
DRM-free games, once you buy them, you can keep your own copy and play it whenever you want.

@SolrenSun Invoking "Capler's barrel" to claim you're "not borrowing" from GOG is peak delusion.
You're still locked into an EULA. No resale, no trading, no transferring. You still own absolutely nothing—you just paid for a prettier leash. Stop the copium. 🤡🎮
English

Kind reminder that the whole issue isn't about physical vs digital, it's about ownership.
Support the services that let you OWN games, not BORROW games.

@drudiggerr @joelmuzz @Spud_Almighty @Pirat_Nation Some of these kids are so naive it's actually pathetic.
English

@__EIRE__ @joelmuzz @Spud_Almighty @Pirat_Nation You could sell it but you could also be sued for doing so, same for lots of things that get resold.
English

@MADkurious If you can’t legally sell it, you don't legally own it.
People hoarding file backups think they beat the system. But try listing that "backup" for sale. You can't. If you don't have the right to transfer it, you're just a glorified custodian of a locked file. 🔑📉
English

UNPOPULAR (but should be popular) OPINION:
GOG digital games are supporting the fight for game ownership more than physical games.

@MattenCRO @GOGcom Log into your GOG account and just re-download the game.
Stop lying.
However, since you love to suck off Sony for some bizarre reason. You do you...
English

@MattenCRO @GOGcom Yes, Why are people so gullible? They happily fall for global marketing hype, completely blind to the stupid reality: you don’t actually have any legal ownership.
You’re literally just paying for a glorified, temporary license to exist in their ecosystem. 🤷♂️

@eisxvv @JohnDoe1432859 @Spud_Almighty @Pirat_Nation True consumer protection is about having real, enforceable rights—like guaranteed refunds for broken downloads and strict quality standards. We deserve real laws, not digital loopholes. 🛡️

Just ANOTHER reason why PC GAMING HAS BEEN AND WILL FOREVER BE THE FUTURE 💯💯💯🤧

@Pirat_Nation And remember, the more people use GOG to buy their games, the more pressure there will be on studios to publish there.

English

@KevSimmer @NoQuarterSoft Love GOG’s DRM-free installers, but let's be real: you still legally own exactly 0% of the game under their ToS. If you try to legally resell your "owned" digital library, their legal team will remind you that you actually just bought a permanent rental agreement.
English

Crazy how even bare minimum policy like this is still leagues beyond most other platforms.

@DanielgDan This is a reasonable question, and this is what offline installers are for on GOG. 😎You can dowload your full library and keep it on your disc for as long as you wish.
