I want to try to see how good it is at generating alternate text for images, maybe make an app out of it. I’m sure I could integrate something like Gemini or ChatGPT, but that cost money. A lot of money.

I think this weekend I will finally try to figure out foundation models because I have not played around with it at all and now that I have an iPhone 17 Pro Max, I can actually try it on both the Mac and iPhone. I want to see how much tokens a standard iPhone photo takes

Every other MacBook has had backlit keys for over 15 years. Even budget Windows laptops have it. Now the white keycaps do help with visibility in low light. But for students typing in a dim lecture hall or on a late-night flight. Not ideal. It’s not a dealbreaker. But it’s the one cut I wish Apple didn’t make.

@justalexoki Apps cannot access Apple’s FaceID API. You can only technically access it via passkeys, but FaceID is optional in that case. The only true way to verify that a human is present is a Face Liveness scan that immediately deletes. Instagram already does it and so do many other apps

It is because of that complexity that many state government agencies are struggling, and I can’t say I blame them with compliance coming up in April of this year. It is concerning, but there are certain carve outs in the new title two ruling that will alleviate some pain

If there is anything that can be considered a “final boss“ when it comes to digital accessibility, it would have to be PDF documents. Remediating PDF documents is hard. You’ve got static documents and then you have forms. Much more complex and failure points.

Meta removing the back button in the Facebook app is beyond stupid. Requiring that you do a gesture to go back instead of having a button is beyond stupid. What if you have a motor impairment and can’t do a gesture on your phone screen? You’re kind of screwed at that point.

I think it's pretty clear that App Review is bogged down right now and I don't know if Apple is even trying to solve it. I remember the dark days of 1 week+ review times being standard and it seems we're almost back to that. At risk of being accused of "gate keeping" I fully support a new membership tier. Call it "pro" or something and charge $1k/year instead of $100. Pro gets a higher priority review queue and better support. Serious people will easily pay more to bypass the thousands of drop-ship-bro slop submissions.
