@BethRigby He has himself to blame . Lying to get elected. Freezing pensioners. Arresting nanas with a placard.

Senior party figure on the movements today: "I’ve been trying to stop people losing their head so we can have a less fraught response, which who knows where that leads "It feels like it’s unstoppable now though…."

ANALYSIS: Starmer clearly listening to his party. Tries to step up the emotion and the passion. But so wanting when it comes to matching his rhetoric of urgency to policy offer. Next 24 hours going to be very precarious as MPs weigh up what to do
Sky News@SkyNews

"What I picked up from it was a prime minister saying to his party, 'I have heard you'" Sky's political editor @BethRigby gives her take on the prime minister's speech, describing it as 'passionate', 'emotional', but that the 'substance of it was quite thin gruel.' 📺 Sky 501

A student from India who does not hold British citizenship and is here on a temporary visa has just been elected to the Scottish parliament to serve a four-year term (salary £80,000 per year). How in God’s name can something like this be allowed to happen? Our democracy is sick.

Keir Starmer claims he wants to be Prime Minister for '10 years,' despite Labour’s local elections drubbing. @Lewis_Goodall asks Bridget Phillipson: ‘is there a danger that sounds unpardonably arrogant?'

These have been a very difficult set of elections. I’ve felt that in Sunderland. But the answer is not to turn inwards. It’s to take responsibility, come together & face up to the challenges ahead. Keir has won before, he can win again. We need to deliver change, not chaos.

Reversing these results requires a collective effort, not just blaming the boss. We can’t do that by turning in on ourselves. We do it by rebuilding faith in Labour’s ability to inspire and lead our country. Losing our Prime Minister is the very opposite of that. In the days ahead, we’ll set out the ambition we have for a fairer and more prosperous Britain.

🚨 NEW: Cabinet Ministers are now rallying around Keir Starmer as more Labour MPs call for him to resign Steve Reed: "The British public don’t want to hear about timelines, backroom deals and navel-gazing" Liz Kendall: "He's not going to go, and he's not going to set a timetable. People want us focused on their jobs and their future, not our jobs and our future" Peter Kyle: "Reversing these results requires a collective effort, not just blaming the boss. We can’t do that by turning in on ourselves. We do it by rebuilding faith in Labour’s ability to inspire and lead our country. Losing our Prime Minister is the very opposite of that" Mike Tapp (Minister but not Cabinet): "The Tories wrecked the country in large part due to the constant churn in Prime Minsters and Ministers. We owe it to our constituents to not do the same"

@____Ad4m Hi Adam, The closest stop to Queen Alexandra Road would be Durham Road-Dunelm into Sunderland, this would be the scheduled stop for our Service 4 which can be seen on our Journey Planner. -Joe

"We see iftars in cathedrals," says Fraser, in a piece lauding the "success" of Britain's multi-faith democracy. Indeed we do. Frequently. But do we see Holy Communion in mosques to the same extent? Or even at all? No. In which case it is yet again only one side making the concession. Asymmetric multiculturalism. When will they grasp it?
Fraser Nelson@FraserNelson

Politicians are reaching for the cross But the distinctive story of faith in Britain isn't culture wars, but the rejection of them. We see iftars in cathedrals, Jews and Muslims signing accords - and a civic identity that holds. My column:- times-comment.com/abraham

Buckingham Palace has reportedly confirmed that the king will not be issuing an Easter message this year. Apparently, it isn't traditional for the monarch to issue a special message at Easter. Well, fine. But the king did issue a special message for Ramadan in February. So many Christians will understandably feel slighted. And many others will see it as yet another example of asymmetric multiculturalism.
