On this day in 1999, #hcafc’s Great Escape from relegation from the Football League was completed with @DavidBrownPod’s first half winner against Torquay at Fer Ark. A remarkable achievement from a team well adrift of safety at the turn of the new year.

Today was my 35th (I think - I've lost count) time at Wembley in 14 years. It's an expensive and time consuming trip. The semis at wembley are now a labour of love. If I had anything better to do, today would probably be my last. If ever there was proof that semis should be neutral, today was it.

@meadey36 @blue0161445 @KieranMaguire ‘Considering the economic situation in the north east of England between the early 80s and today, 14K was a good attendance for Newcastle vs Grimsby in 1982’ Is that what you wanted me to say?

The Championship has been an amazing success story in terms of popularity. Here are the equivalent crowds from 1982

Something that has never happened in the history of football is about to happen in the Premier league this season And it's not about Arsenal bottling the league It's about Wolverhampton wanderers. The season started with Wolves as the bottom team due to alphabetical order After their first game, they were still bottom as they lost to Manchester City 4:0. And since then, they have never left that position The chances of a team never changing a position they were placed in alphabetically at the beginning of the season stands at 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000003649%. Something close to impossible is just a bout to happen.

1992 - if any two of Southampton, Ipswich and Middlesbrough get promoted with Coventry, it will be the first time that three founding members of the Premier League have been promoted together #OptaTT #Barclays #PremierLeague

A man recently purchased a dryer from Facebook Marketplace, but after just one day, it stopped working and he found he couldn’t insert the lint filter without forcing it. When he contacted the seller about these issues, he was blocked. He brought the dryer to our shop for repair. After inspecting the machine, we discovered that loose coins were stuck in the blower wheel, preventing the dryer from starting. We also found bills jammed in the lint filter holder, which explained the difficulty inserting the filter.

Who does this prick think he is? How fucking dare he do this to us fans who stayed till the end after that shit show!! We travel the length and breath off the country following the team at great expense to support the reds. As soon as I got home yesterday I was sorting my bag to fly to Paris tomorrow because that’s what we do. The disconnect between players and fans is massive at the moment.

@SC____93 @cantseyy I’d say it is pretty unlikely that a company who had just sacked someone would “wish them all the best”, let alone allow colleagues to publicly discuss the situation (on national radio 🤣)

@garynetchells @UtdMicah If Newcastle consider themselves to be a big club, then - naturally - fans of other clubs are going to dissect their signings etc Just like people are currently doing with Spurs, and United themselves before that

Anthony Elanga, £55m. 43 games, 3 goals, 1 assist. His only goals have came in ties they’ve lost 5-1 & 8-3. Yet to score a Premier League goal this season. The same one-trick winger everyone saw at United. Jacob Ramsey, £40m. — Newcastle finally got their dream #10 after years of moaning about it... who has delivered a spectacular 3 G/A in 35 appearances. 4 G/A if you count the wonderful pass to Raphinha to cement their biggest European defeat in history. Yoane Wissa, £55m. 21 games, 3 goals, 1 assist. 29-year-old panic buy with a contract ticking down at Brentford, so naturally Newcastle paid £55m when he was out of contract this summer.. Now stuck behind Will Osula in the pecking order & liking Sunderland players posts after doing the double on Newcastle. *Nick Woltemade - £75m. 44 games, 10 goals, 3 assists. The new "star striker" who arrived as the shiny Isak replacement... who now is being played as an #8 and hasn’t scored a league goal since December. Malick Thiaw, £35m. In fairness, more of a goal threat than Wissa & Elanga combined. Started well but part of the defence who has conceded the most goals of any side in Europe’s Top 5 league’s in 2026. Newcastle spent £250m on these five alone last summer, an absolutely pathetic transfer & they’re back playing the PSR deflection tactics on their own supporters to distract from the absolute failure of Eddie Howe & the Sportswashing project. You have had more than enough money, you just spent it horrendously. Victim mentality.

"We don't have the revenue of other clubs… the rules have made it very difficult." 👀 "I don't know a team that wouldn't suffer from that." 😳 "Losing Alex [Isak] last summer was a considerable blow." 😓 Pressure mounts on Eddie Howe after defeat in the Tyne-Wear derby 😬
