the habesha mind could never comprehend this
BSAT Properties@BSAT_Properties

I was on a train in Tokyo. We stopped between stations. Announcement in Japanese, then in English: "We apologize for the delay. We will resume shortly." The delay was maybe 3 minutes. Not a big deal. When the train started moving again, another announcement: "We sincerely apologize for the delay. We were stopped for 3 minutes and 20 seconds. This is unacceptable. Thank you for your patience." Three minutes and twenty seconds. They measured it exactly. And called it unacceptable. When I got off at my stop, there were station staff on the platform bowing and handing out delay certificates. I took one out of curiosity. It was an official document stating that the train had been delayed by 3 minutes and 20 seconds, signed and stamped. The staff member said in English "for your employer. So they know the delay was not your fault." I said I'm a tourist, I don't need it. He looked confused. "But the delay affected you. You deserve an apology." Three minutes. They were treating a three-minute delay like a major incident. Later I mentioned this to a Japanese friend. They said "oh yes, delay certificates are normal. Trains are supposed to be exactly on time. If they are late, they must apologize." I said three minutes isn't late, it's nothing. My friend said "in Japan, three minutes is late. On time means on time. Not approximately on time." They said the train company probably investigated why there was a 3-minute delay. "They will find the cause and fix it so it doesn't happen again." I kept the certificate. It's framed in my apartment now. A reminder that somewhere in the world, people care about three minutes. © 6IX.

@eyobderrick i feel your pain bro, if it's any consolation, it gets easier when you get familiar with how things work there, plus everything is now online so you don't have to go to that hellhole anymore

@FreeNortherner I do 8+9 through 10+7, and similar calculation tricks for as long as I remember but the question took me a minute to understand it's just badly presented, and I also think it should come naturally instead of being instructed

Every post, I block and report a couple accounts using AI-generated replies. It feels much the same as picking up litter on a city street; I don't know if it has any effect, but it feels like I ought to at least try to keep the site clean.

what's been surprising about this is that people chose a side for whatever reason and proceed to blindly fight to prove that they are right and that you are stupid/immoral for chosing the other option

Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press?

@aas_ker -avoid being idle, occupy yourself with whatever you can, whether it's important or useless -be with people, humans don't know how to exist alone we are tribal animals, so find your tribe -be truthful, don't pretend, and you'll be free, light and unburdened

choosing red would be selfish bc everyone who chose blue dies(even your own loved ones, somehow people forgot this). I don't care if the right "game theory" answer is red, blue is the morally correct answer.

minds that are fast enough will eventually outstrip reality with age. you can premeditate faster than things can actually happen, so from then on you’re stuck living in the memories of mental projections made manifest, draining the sense of novelty that ignorance once provided

so, apparently, if you stop spending time on x (the everything app), you suddenly have a lot more free time, which you can use for reading “books” which are like very long xeets except instead of making you depressed they make you intellectially refreshed
