I promise I always try myself to make a genuine effort to see the positive side of things. I really do. But Somalia.. what a breathtaking country.. Crystal-clear virgin coastlines, untouched virgin beaches… (unlike their goats, let’s be honest). Today I decided to educate myself properly on this magnificent land. I wanted to dive deep into its rich cultural heritage. So naturally, I looked up the traditional Somali gastronomy, you know, the authentic local cuisine that reflects the soul of the people. After some thorough research: canjeero (that spongy fermented flatbread), bariis iskukaris spiced with cardamom and cumin, suqaar, muqmad (dried camel meat), and of course… the classic pairing of rice served with a ripe banana right on the same plate ( a very high IQ elaboration ) Look at this meal, I’m not even kidding, my dog produces something that looks exactly like that when he throws up the grass he ate earlier. Same color palette, same consistency, same artistic presentation. It’s truly fascinating how a nation’s culinary traditions can mirror its current state so perfectly. Beautiful country though. I can’t say the same about the inhabitants.
