An Independent Disciplinary Commission has today expelled Southampton from the Sky Bet Championship Play-Offs after the Club admitted to multiple breaches of EFL Regulations related to the unauthorised filming of other Clubs’ training. In addition, the Club has received a four-point deduction that will be applied to the 2026/27 Championship table. The effect of today’s order is that Middlesbrough are reinstated into the 2026 Play-Offs and will proceed to the Play-Off Final against Hull City. @__lifeofvikito @EFL_Comms The EFL brought in a specific rule after Leeds to stop other clubs doing the same thing. Southampton broke that rule and the EFL have imposed a penalty that is proportionate, relevant and a deterrent

Again we know most teams playing styles or “identity” as mere fans or football enthusiasts. I just feel the punishment has so much weight

@__lifeofvikito @D_DevDan @FabrizioRomano Yeah I would expect you would be practicing patterns of play specifically tailored for an opponent in a critical playoff match like this. Also simply the appearance of impropriety undermines the credibility of the competition itself.

@__lifeofvikito @FabrizioRomano To make stew, you need tomatoes. If I tell you this, I haven't revealed anything special. Likewise, When clubs post their training sessions, they only post the basic, common things they want you to see. You don't see tactics, style of play, specific formations etc.

@Yungbaby0 @FabrizioRomano I mean, A lot can change the momentum of the game, early red card or goal for example, I think training videos of good teams getting recorded wouldn’t make them lose a game against lesser teams.

@__lifeofvikito @FabrizioRomano Yeah but they don’t post tactics. You can’t get any information from seeing Luis Diaz hitting top bins in a 20 secons Instagram clip. But you can get tons of information if you make it into their camp and get live footage yourself. You see the entire setup.
