Not to corpo-shill but I’m so happy that @FrameworkPuter is around and not only selling intentionally Linux-compatible computers, but citing individual distro compatibility and funding OSS projects The aughts were a bleak time and felt like this era would never come

@48lexr I wanted to switch from Grub to Limine as a bootloader, but when I switched I never switched to Limine fully and Grub stuff was leftover. So I had to go to chroot and pretty much get rid of Grub fully and fix Limine. CachyOS community helped, great people there.

@ReimuNotMoe @hovnowc this is not a good setup, i am sorry - trusting GRUB for encryption and handling of many filesystem when those things are the primary cause of CVEs in GRUB itself as it stands. code duplication, way less maintainers and eyes on the GRUB codebase, compared to the Linux kernel.

How on earth anyone is recommending CachyOS??? Requesting 4GB of space for the EFI partition is insane Manually partition (I want to preserve my game partition) comes out straight failed after deleting my other partitions. After the failure, the installer is gone directly…

@ReimuNotMoe @hovnowc w/ Limine you do not need to sign the kernel or initramfs either while maintaining the chain of trust.

If you look at the comment section, you'll see a lot of smartasses demonstrating their broken understandings of what is an EFI partition. My EFI partition is only 64MB and only 970KB is used. Yet I'm still "using a rolling distro". And I have 400+GB to store my kernel images.

@ReimuNotMoe @hovnowc oh yeah and the "FAT is unreliable" argument is pretty odd given that for one, nothing of value should be on the FAT partition itself (the bootloader, kernels and initramfses are not valuable in the sense that they are replaceable), and second, the chance of corruption is minute
