"Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience"

@LutheranAnswers My best effort to offset is paying $80 a week for four kids to take piano lessons.

A few months ago, the Stone Choir podcast stopped recording because, according to them, they’d said everything they needed to say. This is proof that even they don’t believe it was the gospel, which will be told again and again until the Day of our Lord.

@TheDonStein I think your more substantive critiques are more helpful. Not saying you’re wrong, just not sure that 10 years in it’s helpful to react to his communication style.

In many cases, adapting the liturgy to better please the culture is like giving your kids frosting because they don’t like the taste of toothpaste.

I’ve never heard a credible excuse for a pastor not knowing his people by name. A sure sign he’s not visiting, and probably true he believes he can’t. Hard to believe you are capable of knowing God’s word adequately but not a few hundred people by name.
Jayson York@jaysonyork

Unpopular pastoral opinion #9? A pastor should be available to chat with his congregation often, he should know the name of the people in his church, he should visit them, spend time with them, and know their lives. Pastors who don’t aren’t pastors, they are public speakers

@BRoh23 We know Jesus by His Word and Sacraments. We pray that we rightly understand his Word. More than that we pray that we would remain in Him.

@becomelutheran These results seem very wrong to me. I'd rather attend a Divine Service that rightly distinguishes Law and Gospel with some goofy music than, well, anything that isn't Lutheran.

@WWUTTcom Parham told an unverified story of his leg breaking and healing himself via prayer. Not very different from Joseph Smith finding magical plates nobody has ever seen.

@KirkWilson What not just admit he believes with the Church in history? It would be so much more clear. Probably Because limited atonement is a cultural, not a scriptural doctrine that is practically more emotional than Biblical.

So according to Piper, Christ has his arms outstretched and is calling to every non-elect, “Come, Come” …at the same time knowing that He actually didn’t die for them. Sounds pretty insane.
𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗢 𝗔@RisingDisciples

If you can manage to get through one minute, 39 seconds of Piper's incoherent babbling, you'll discover the depths of depravity that Calvinism will drag its believers and "teachers" down to. Proceed at your own risk.

@Torncurtainorg He says that people are saved Ex opere operato, simply by repeating after him. This is not a step in the right direction. All he’s done is to preach the law and to tell them to save themselves by “making Jesus their Lord.” As Peter put it, they should “repent and be baptized.”

Joel Osteen Started to Preaching about Sin? In response to criticism that Joel Osteen avoids mentioning sin, he began including the word "sin" in his sinner's prayer at the end of his TV programs. I thought this was a small step in the right direction for Joel. Were you aware that Joel Osteen made this change? What are your thoughts? *This video is NOT a recommendation or endorsement of Joel Osteen's ministry.
