Finally found a very quiet orbital shaker! The benchmark shaker junior can go up to 300rpm, can hold 6 standard mag clamps for flasks up to 250mL, and brushless motor. I got this on ebay for a $120 steal. Ordered some magnetic sheets to adhere to platform. My nail taps louder.

A portion of my lab took a break from their experiments and joined me at our local Strawberry Shortcake Festival in Bloomington, Indiana.

Meet Innatrix’ summer intern, Ben Ryan! He is a forensic biology undergrad who discovered his love for plant biology (which makes sense since plants are awesome) With our latest SCN trial taken down this week, Ben is busy counting cysts. Excited to be Ben’s mentor this summer!

A day of cyst counting in the books

Harvesting cysts from my very first greenhouse trial today. Am I a nematologist yet?

Physically doing science, not just being talked down to about it, would change a lot of people's minds. Part of the reason why folks are skeptical of scientific institutions is the moat between general public participation and the various fields of research.
