UK military chiefs have been tasked with finding £3.5 billion in “efficiencies” and savings this year, at the same time as the government says we need to get our armed forces ready for potential war. 🙄 This is the reality facing Britain’s defence right now. The threats out there aren’t shrinking, yet we’re still asking our service chiefs to squeeze more blood from an already lean stone. We can talk tough about supporting Ukraine, deterring aggression in Europe and the Indo-Pacific, and rebuilding our military capability but that requires proper, sustained investment, not endless rounds of internal cuts dressed up as “efficiencies”. Our armed forces and the men and women who serve in them deserve better than this mixed message. National security isn’t something you can half-fund while hoping for the best. The British taxpayer has already paid for world class Defensive capability. Our individual service personnel are the best in the world. Unfortunately our Defence budget is routinely squandered on shoddy goods, third rate services or failed, stalled and overpriced projects. Some procurement failures go back not just to the abysmal Tories but the Labour government before them. Incompetence has become systemic, accountability is non existent, morale has fallen, capability is minimised. @_AdvanceUK is currently working on a Defence and National Security policy to stop the rot, seek accountability and build the highly trained, highly motivated, well equipped military that we not only deserve but have already paid for- then use it to defend OUR borders….

Rachel Reeves only knows how to raise taxes. Britain already has its highest tax burden since WWII - and things are getting worse, not better. The problem isn’t too little tax. It’s too much waste. Cut the waste: Carbon capture – £9.4bn Net Zero – £30bn Foreign aid – £7bn Migrant accommodation – £4bn That’s over £50bn saved and with that you could raise the basic rate of income tax to £20,000 and get the economy moving. Stop taxing Britain to death. Start cutting the waste.
