I just sold my newsletter, officially.
The sale was purely based on data, whos on the list, where, businesses, and a little about our metrics.
They wanted the audience.
This speaks a lot about where we are in terms of audience building. You need to collect data, info, and engagement.
This is nothing new to you, but just remmeber while you are building, to not forget that - because it's worth something to someone.
It's a little bittersweet, but it's time to move on!
I am going to be building out a personal brand along with another brand focusing on how to use ai in media and business to help you as a solo founder or small team.
Super stoked to see what's next.
My last few editions go out this week.
Turning another page, follow along as i do video, podcast, and posts about how to save time and make money, implementing SIMPLE AI workflows explained in PLAIN ENGLISH and how to use them into your day to day.

English

@beehiiv It’d be a big win for us local newsletter peeps! We are tired of paying fees on platforms like Eventbrite
English

@_andrewtsmith we can see it! make the ticket a PDF or similar; or sell access to a private landing page where they can register.
English

@denk_tweets @beehiiv I thought it was my computer that was the issue and almost bought a new one because of it 😂
English

the @beehiiv post editor is back to normal performance and no longer lagging like earlier today
apologies for the inconvenience 🙏

✍️ A message from Brandon, our Founder.
I want to apologise for not being around recently. A lot of you have been patiently waiting for our 2025 round-ups and recent handheld reviews; they will not be happening, sorry! Unfortunately, my 2-year-old son was rushed into hopsital at the start of December with a rare virus that attacked his brain in some very horrible ways. As any father would, I dropped everything and was by his side for many weeks in the ICU while he recovers, hence the lack of content from myself. 🏥
The good news is that he's recovering at home now and is on the mend, all thanks to our incredible NHS. 🇬🇧 They get a lot of stick here in the UK, but my little boy wouldn't be here without them; they're truly the country's superheroes, and I am forever in their debt.
While he recovers, video content will be a little slow as it takes me a week to produce one video, Seb our EIC, continues to lead our written content, and is why you've seen him hard at work keeping the brand active while I assist my son. That said, I have a couple of videos in the pipeline that I'll start working on, alongside an upcoming fundraiser to give back to the charity and doctors that supported us over Christmas. 👨⚕️💌
As a father, you always hear about other Children getting ill, or horror stories that give you goosebumps and sometimes stories of kids having to spend Christmas in hopsitals etc. You never think it will be your own child in those shoes, until it is.
I want to thank everyone who continues to consume our content. You may think it's a simple video you're watching, or "another" article you're reading. But actually, behind the scenes, you're supporting two content creators who have families, who are also trying to build a publishing business during a time when AI and algorithms don't want you to grow. 🫡 So again, thank you, honestly.
💻 Our premium website members who support us with a donation every month will be entered automatically into the upcoming charity fundraiser, too. Because at the end of the day, you were the ones who allowed me not to stress about getting out more content during this difficult time, and I cannot thank you enough for that. 🤝
Content will be slow for a few weeks while the little man gets back on track. 🙏
Thanks again for all you do; it's seriously appreciated. See you in the next video/article. 👋
Brandon

@MrJacobEspi @La_Bonne_InfoLR @CreatingJas @MikeyPesto @TJLarkin23 @STORUP1 I did this as well. If I was only doing 1 per week I’d probably still send.
English

@La_Bonne_InfoLR @CreatingJas @MikeyPesto @TJLarkin23 @STORUP1 We do 2 sends each week.
We are only sending 1 next week.

Hello local newsletter team,
A quick question from a newcomer: do you take a break from sending out your newsletters during the Christmas holidays (between Christmas and New Year's Day, for example)?
Thank you!

@TJLarkin23 I’ve thought about it but wasn’t really sure what type of content to fill it with

what are everyone's thoughts on the idea of a state-wide "local" newsletter?
this is something i'd generally written off as being way too wide of a net and difficult to create content that people all over a state would care about
but starting to think there may be a play here
obvious upsides:
-much higher TAM
-lower cost of acquisition since have a much larger target audience
-easier path to get in front of big advertisers who want a broader reach than just a hyper local one
@NateSpangle is doing this in Indiana very successfully
feels especially possible in say the smaller half of the US states
still concerned about how to create the right content, but probably very doable
is anyone else doing this, especially successfully?

Breakdown of the ≈ $9600 pre-sale revenue of my local magazine (before even starting the production):
148 x magazines = $5000
6 x sponsors = $4600
Context:
My local @beehiiv -newsletter is almost a year old. Now I'm wrapping up my best editorial content in a branded magazine.

English

@_andrewtsmith $2100 a month
Which includes $600 going directly towards growth
Partner is big in the space and has a lot of connections and influence.
Couldn't do it on my own at all
English

@BrianMSkinner Nothings better than locking in the at first big sponsorship! Congrats!
English

@itsjohnapolinar So strange! It’s a pain though because it opens in the same tab and so you have re-open Beehiiv after.
Definitely could be improved

I have read the Bible many times, front to back, and have studied it rigorously for 20 years in its original languages of Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic.
I’ve studied the Bible with hundreds of people in English, Spanish, and Chinese.
I have read the words of Jesus thousands of times, taught them to others, and preached them to crowds of people all over the world, and I’ve seen the words of Jesus change people’s lives in ways that are difficult to explain.
I’ve seen it in my own life. I’ve gone from lost and broken and on a one-way road to destruction to living a life of love and peace (as much as I make many mistakes— and I do)
This week our country was divided in a moment, arguably more than it’s ever been in my lifetime.
Now more than ever we have to decide what type of person we are going to be in life, and allow that decision to shape our worldview and inform the actions we take as humans.
Many people do not know how to respond to the world events this week, and that’s okay.
I believe most people want to respond in love, but don’t know how.
For this reason, I’d like to invite anyone to my DMs to discuss.
I don’t have all the answers, and I don’t know everything. But I think the Bible speaks powerfully about so much more than most people in 2025 are aware of, and I’d like you to use me as a resource to help bridge the gap (if you’d like to).
I believe there are clear instructions in the Bible for how to live and for
how to love, especially in times of extremely polarizing circumstances, and I’d like to help anyone curious to discover those instructions, whether or not you choose to adopt them.
DMs open.
In love,
Daniel Berk

@_andrewtsmith Got 4 leads from those... I was only able to contact like 20... And I messed up on the execution on that.
The first job ($2500) was from the giveaway.
English

This is Part 6 of building a Christmas Lights company…
Using my local newsletter audience of 107,000 people.
We’ve now closed over $5,000 worth of jobs...
in the last week.
With no paid ads. or even a website.
And here's how we did it:
• 3 jobs closed = $5,000 in revenue
• 30% deposits upfront
• All from 2 newsletter ads (after our giveaway)
Our funnel now looks like this:
A person sees ad in the newsletter.
Books 10-min call via Calendly.
We qualify them.
Book in-person design consult.
Then we go in person:
• Build rapport
• Show a mockup (before/after)
• Break down the quote
• Close the deal
Last 7 days, here's the breakdown:
• 10 consults booked
• 3 canceled
• 7 showed up
• 3 closed
• $1,666 avg job value
• All before Oct 1
Christmas lights season typically runs Oct 1–Dec 10…
Our goal: Extend the season, so we can get practice reps in + increase revenue.
What do you think, will I hit $100,000 in my first season?
And comment below any question! And thoughts you might have...
