@yoavgo It's over the period 2019-2022. Why that rather than 2020-2023? My guess is that the figure for 2023 was not available yet when this newspiece was written (early March 2024).

@_atoral note that this is not actually about the past four years as you suggest (though i see how you were mislead by the title) but about some other 4 year period. one may wonder how it was chosen. in any case, i am not in the mood for comparing severity of wars, so i will stop now.

@_atoral where do you get the source for claim (1)? and why choose these particular four years? close to (my) home, the syrian civil war alone is responsible for the death of >25,000 children since its started.

@yoavgo Size depends on the metric used. According to other metrics it seems pretty big actually. Two examples: 1) More children killed than in all other conflicts in the world in the past 4 years put together 2) More journalists killed than in any other conflict in the past 3 decades

@banalplay this prioritizes one small conflict in gaza, which will affect at most 2M people, over at the minimum all the unautherized residents in the US (11M people), minority populations in the US, women rights in the US, LGBTQ in the US etc not to mentions numerous other world conflicts.
