@ycombinator do you invest in tech for niche market? For example a trade in commercial construction?

@truthstreamnews I’ve thought hard on this, and I don’t want to accept it as incompetence. Surely they have enough forethought to anticipate people would reject it.. and If so, it sort of makes sense why it’d be shoved so forcefully

Right? Same goes for all of it. If they wanted the majority to cheerfully mass adopt AI and robots etc., they wouldn’t have rushed to shove the tech so quickly and aggressively into everyone’s lives in the Black Mirror ways they did, practically ensuring anger and hostility.
Nickels@stevie_nickels

@truthstreamnews It’s certainly not for us 😆😆

@alphafox Yeah not racing to rescue after infidelity led to someone else child. It never works out even if you have all the right intentions. Best not let the kid grow up living a lie.

@itechnologynet @HudBeer @Hesamation I could’ve been more specific. Anything someone throws together in the matter of a few months can be duplicated and is best to keep proprietary. Trying to scale a small tool would kill leverage on all fronts.

@_brettam @HudBeer @Hesamation you must think all apps are simple.. 27y xp SWE here, and AI has been writing a new project from scratch for the last 4 weeks, and still more to go (it would have taken me about 8 months without AI) ...ain't nobody vide coding that quickly, AI or no AI

> be a software engineer > tell everyone “we’re cooked” > post about ai layoffs that have nothing to do with ai > nobody will study cs > programmers will switch jobs > congrats, in 5 years software will have a demand spike with no supply because “ai was gonna replace us all”

This is awesome for non technical people But SWE's aren't going anywhere, because as soon as you wanna scale that personal app to 5K users or beyond, with backups, load balancing, audits, observability, etc : it's a different level But you can learn over time (if you want) Those that will dissapear, are the lazy ones

@edandersen I'm sure Nvidia, OAI, MS and Anthropic have asked themselves this before.. But what happens if people just don't want what AI has to offer? Surely they've anticipated it?

Translation: people are furious when they discover they have paid for or consumed AI generated content without realizing it. It makes them feel stupid, and then angry This applies to emails and PowerPoints at work too btw
Crimson Desert@CrimsonDesert_

We would like to address questions regarding the use of AI in Crimson Desert. During development, some 2D visual props were created as part of early-stage iteration using experimental AI generative tools. These assets helped us rapidly explore tone and atmosphere in the earlier phases of production. However, our intention has always been for any such assets to be replaced, following final work and review by our art and development teams, with work that aligned with our quality standards and creative direction. Following reports from our community, we have identified that some of these assets were unintentionally included in the final release. This is not in line with our internal standards, and we take full responsibility for it. We also acknowledge that we should have clearly disclosed our use of AI. While these tools were primarily used during early production, with the expectation that these assets would be replaced prior to release, we recognize that this does not excuse the lack of transparency. We sincerely apologize for these oversights. We are currently conducting a comprehensive audit of all in-game assets and are taking steps to replace any affected content. Updated assets will be rolled out in upcoming patches. In parallel, we are reviewing and strengthening our internal processes to ensure greater transparency and consistency in how we communicate with players moving forward.

@sweatystartup I think this seems like the case. But just because each “breakthrough” is way over-exaggerated, doesn’t mean there isn’t the potential to legitimately disrupt. Also, for most people’s private use, LLM’s can give them nearly any app they could request.

Investing heavily in AI at your company will backfire. You are becoming dependent on something that is unsustainable. The VC money will dry up once they realize nobody is going to make any money in the long run except NVDA and the power companies. The subsidies will stop. And your costs will 5x. There is no moat in AI. Switching from GPT to gemini to grok to claude takes seconds and you don't miss a beat. Its a house of cards.

I worked my ass off for the last 4 years developing tools for our in-house software. Never got paid a dime for it, but my drive was that the software would be worth something one day and I could transition into software dev full time. If I'd started today, I would've never even tried.

The world will only be better off if the AI race, as it is right now, is over and forgotten about.
