@CadX_Studio Is this just a proof of concept design or will this unit be made? Asking for a friend…

@jimbelosic @adcwaste Agreed, we schedule an extra 10-15% and ensure we have at least three people trained in all key positions

@adcwaste We target >110% staffing, since on any given day 10% or more will call out, get sick, vacation, weddings, etc. Over hiring isn’t really over hiring

I’m struggling this summer with employees taking time off. Basically too many employees are requesting off at the same time, or calling in sick. Historically I have done great with negotiating different dates between employees. But for whatever reason, this year it’s like negotiating with terrorists. No give and take I need some advice. Almost feels like I need to hire more people just to make up for call ins, but if everyone shows up, I won’t have enough trucks/work for them all

@josefchen Beautiful design, congrats! Were there any parts of the design or simulation process that onshape struggled with?

3 patent filings, 20+ granted design rights, and 2500+ Onshape commits. Like SpaceX, we developed every component from scratch = 90% cost savings. Built in a few months by 3 engineers locked in a room with no sunlight in the middle of London. Stress-tested daily in a live restaurant: we build, serve, wash, iterate. The world's leading operating platform rewriting the restaurant labour model. Coming in 2025.

Isaiah Taylor - making nuclear reactors
I have obsessed about how to build gigawatts of new nuclear power for ten years. I analyzed every type of nuclear reactor at every size. Then I analyzed 80 different regulatory pathways. Then my team built this in 10 months. To be quite frank with you, we’re going to win.

New service, coming soon. Hardware insertion, "the OSH Cut Way". You'll be able to see this in your web browser, and know in advance whether we can insert hardware into your part, and if not, why. A couple weeks out. 400+ hardware options.

3. How to overcome slow feedback loops. I started in client-side JS (refresh the page, <1s), moved to Machine Learning (re-train the model, <1d), and hit hardware engineering like a brick wall (order new parts, <1w). The only way to win here is careful work with clear hypotheses.

~14 hours into my first hardware project. This stuff is humbling. But boy is it full of great learning opportunities. Here are some of my real-time takeaways:
