Today is a big day! That big lens in the middle represents a lot of hard work over the last 3 years, but I finally have been able to purchase a lens I’ve been dreaming of owning for a long time. Today when I walked into @pictureline, it was bittersweet. They’ve been such an incredible company to rent from. Their employees have been so incredibly helpful and patient with me as I came in week after week picking up the rental. It was always fun to walk in and have everyone know me by name and exactly what I’m there for. That is the bitter. The sweet is overwhelming. Getting my own @CanonUSA 100-300 f/2.8 felt so good. With that purchase, I no longer have to rent a lens every time I shoot a field sport. I’ll no longer have to drive to salt lake to pick it up every time I need it. I’ll no longer have to pay $100 every day I need it (over the last 5 years, I’ve spent over $20,000 in rental costs). I know this post feels a little LinkedIn-esque, which is the worst of all social medias, but this milestone is a little too special to keep to my self. This is the culmination of 5 years work finally coming to a point of freedom in the photography world. Freedom from that daily rental costs, freedom from excessive mileage on my car to pick it up, and the freedom to get out more often to more and more events. All of that to say, today was a good day.

@FriedScones I just cycle through old shows from the 00s and 10s. Rewatching 24 right now. Most new stuff that comes out sucks anyway.

Why are all shows on tv Shit. Vulgar. Nasty language. Gay. Lame stories. I admit even the free good scripts like landman become unbearable bc of the F words and vulgarity.

Just passed a friend in her driveway holding her toddler, baby in a stroller, getting cornered by a door-to-door salesman she clearly didn’t want to talk to. I called out, “Hey, is now a good time?” walked right up, stepped between them, and started talking to her about what I needed to bring for dinner on Sunday. (We do not have dinner plans.) He didn’t take the hint, so I turned and said, “Have a good one.” Then I walked her inside. She was shaking. He’d been there for 20 minutes, ignoring her saying she wasn’t interested and that she needed to feed her baby. Really glad I happened to be walking by.

It’s funny to me how quickly I judged the rest of the rankings based on a very specific movie and where it’s ranked.
