@ronmortgageguy @thestarcard100 When was the last time a plumber, software or mechanics ran for office. Over the past many decades our choices are white collar types only. The type of Landlords and Money Whores.

@grok @Desre741 @bruce_barrett @grok Review the 2025 Food Price Survey spreadsheets from the Govermment of Nunavut's Bureau of Statistics and list the price of each community's average cost for a case of water at time of survey.
English

A case of 24x500ml bottled water at the Northern Store in Kinngait (Cape Dorset) typically runs $40–60+ CAD, depending on brand and shipment timing—far higher than southern Canada due to remote air/sea freight. Single 500ml bottles are often $4–5. Prices aren't posted online, but recent Nunavut surveys confirm Qikiqtaaluk region costs are 50%+ above Ottawa averages. Local tap water advisories drive demand.

@Martyupnorth Can anyone say Frank Meyers or Mirabel Airport?

@Martyupnorth @NunatsiaqNews just published the second of a three part commentary about the 1980s NDP then-Nunatsiaq riding floor crosser to the PET Lins. Peter Ittinuar was this gents name.
English

Nunavut NDP MP Lori Idlout will cross the floor to join the Liberals, according to NDP interim leader Don Davies.
“The position of the New Democrats on floor crossing is longstanding and clear,” Davies said.
“We believe that when someone rejects the decision of their electors and wants to join another party, they should put that decision to their voters.”
The Liberals now have 170 seats in the House of Commons, meaning Prime Minister Mark Carney is just two seats shy of a majority.

@ronmortgageguy
Spent $40.00 and pulled land registry info. from OnLand for property wife likes. Learnt two things - CRA lien and 2nd tier charge (14.99%) on house. Is there a strategy potential lenders employ to protect themselves or avoid situation all together..?

@jwarwick @KirkLubimov She owns her own business, marks up her products by 40%, rents out her multiple residences to government travellers within Nunavut, and rent out her Ottawa property as well. She's just like 80% of our elected officials.

@KirkLubimov Imagine you're running a company and these are your board members & executives ...

Listen to this NDP Lori Idlout, who held Trudeau in power under Jagmeet Singh, trying to rationalize why she abstained from voting.
"This budget doesn't do enough for Indigenous people and I couldn't do that and that why I abstained because we are not propping up the government.
There were things for my riding and that is why I had to abstain." 🤦🏼
Who votes for these boneheads??
English

@Michael_Shandro @Martyupnorth_2 Idlout is my MP. What a lousy MP.
English

@Martyupnorth_2 Jeneroux is my MP. What a lousy way for him to end his career.
English

Idlout abstained because "There was something in it for my constituents".
Johns abstained because he didn't want to trigger an election.
Jeneroux abstained because he's a coward.
Stubbs is recovering from surgery. I'm sure she could have voted using the APP. Did the Conservatives use her as an excuse to pass the budget??

A veteran is someone who transitioned from military life in the Canadian Armed Forces to civilian life.
Canada has 375,000 veterans of all ages. Thank you for your service.
I just find this chart funny.
An "x" in a cell indicates that the data is suppressed to meet the confidentiality requirements of the Statistics Act.
Can you guess how many women ages 19-29 are veterans in Canada?

English

@Martyupnorth_2 3) ..."Mister Speaker, what is the status of the dust suspression of the roads in my riding"? Or, "Mister Speaker, can the Minister update this House on..."
Not exactly some hard hitting questions.
English

@Martyupnorth_2 2) Ironically there are multiple instances in the local news arguing for party politics in Nunavut.
If one were to read the Hansard, you would be blown away by how times in the last 6 legislative assemblies that a regular MLA would softball questions like...
English

Did you know that Canada's newest territory, Nunavut (carved from the Northwest Territories in 1999), runs a truly unique government?
No political parties allowed. Zero. All Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) run and serve as independents, focusing on community consensus over partisan bickering.
Votes stay fiercely non-partisan.

English

@RichardDias_CFA @ABtythiessen4 Rich - not to be picky, but Nunavut's stat is missing.
English

Canadians are voting with their feet, and they are picking Alberta. (re do)
🤦♀️Please Note 🤦♀️ In my haste to correct a silly mistake—leaving out SK—I made a much worse error. I got the math backwards. Credit to the keen eyes of @ABtythiessen4, who caught it. This is the correct version. The now-deleted wrong version is below. My apologies.

@FoodProfessor Strawberries in Iqaluit, Nunavut. Low price, low quality - near end of week unsold from prior week resupply. Strawberries on bottom of packaging were either moldy or squished, or both.

FACT: Canada has one of the highest living standards in the world, higher than the USA!! We also don't live under authoritarian rule.
And.....We also subsidize Alberta with billions...
CTV Question Period@ctvqp
In a conversation about carbon capture and oil production, Alberta's Premier Danielle Smith said Canada has "the lowest living standards in the world." "We're falling behind all the OECD countries in productivity growth and standard of living growth," said Smith.
