@Harkmagic @NoNonsenseND If your kid has ADHD, they will not learn from these experiences, they will just fail school. Source: I was the kid with ADHD and I failed school.

@NoNonsenseND The hard way. The child will learn to improvise. The child will learn to adapt. The child will learn to overcome hardship. And most importantly, The child will learn the not forgot their shit when heading to school.

@Kissmyazz24 @NaoyaZeninisme Patriarchy is. I'm sick of so-called "feminists" becoming the patriarchy's greatest soldiers the moment it's men getting screwed. You don't take your own principles seriously.

@barfwithaspoon @JJvanWijck Een groot aandeel is wellicht "non-binair," wat gewoon een nieuwe manier is van aangeven dat het je allemaal niet veel kan schelen.

@OrinocoBlow @0wlAfter Candace Owen’s is infamous as one of the first leftists to be “cancelled.” Megyn Kelly was on NBC less than a decade ago before she got canceled. 10 years may seem like a long time to you now because it’s half your life. Ignorant and naive.

@_farco @DemonessChara @Pipypop1 Ah yes, lets take to heart the words of a man who hated *writing* because he though it would create "forgetfulness". But who cares, because; Quidquid Latine dictum sit, altum videtur

@ShellShockOIF @DemonessChara @Pipypop1 As Socrates says in the Theaetetus: "The free use of words and phrases, rather than minute precision, is generally characteristic of a liberal education, and the opposite is pedantic;"

@sobradob @W_T_Han Good point. Maybe if we also measure what women on DeviantArt are reading we will get a better sense of what the western canon is.

No, it's not that "the Chinese government realized the stories that made the West has given the West a massive civilizational advantage." It's that Chinese culture is built on its own canon, so that being educated to the Chinese means being well-versed in the canon. And since at least the early-20th c, after the arrival of the Western challenge, the Chinese have broadened their idea of the canon to encompass the West. Being educated now means being at least reasonably well-read in both Chinese & Western canon. Decades ago, when my parents were growing up, they were already reading Dumas & Dostoevsky. Whether the West abandons its own canon is an entirely independent issue.
Paul Anleitner@PaulAnleitner

Do you understand how significant this is? The Chinese government realized the stories that made the West has given the West a massive civilizational advantage. But since the postmodern West largely abandoned those stories, the Chinese see an opportunity. If they could build upon the wisdom of those stories while we deconstruct them, they believe they can gain a civilizational advantage.

@ShellShockOIF @DemonessChara @Pipypop1 Worse than that: I want everyone to NOT have their own personal dictionary, and decide the meaning of words mostly on vibes. This would make the world LESS confusing, since people would finally take ownership over meaning, rather than always try to conflate it with "truth."

@_farco @DemonessChara @Pipypop1 OH! Is that the argument? They have the meaning I give them? Okay, then you just admitted that you fuck your own sister. Wow, this is fun!

@ShellShockOIF @DemonessChara @Pipypop1 They don't have meaning? Have you read a word I've told you? They have the meaning *you* give them. If you want to shut yourself off from the world and say they have no meaning at all, that is your choice. Am I dumb enough to say I could stop you?

@ShellShockOIF @DemonessChara @Pipypop1 Words do NOT have set meanings. That's the entire POWER of natural language. Do you prefer that we, like Thom Yorke sings, "speak in math?" Even mathematicians will "abuse notation," make it mean new things without explicitly redefining it.

@_farco @DemonessChara @Pipypop1 You're a fucking idiot. Words have set meanings. Thats how ALL language works. Not even just the human ones. Im not going to argue such an obvious fucking fact
