i hate doctors so much you literally have to manipulate them into doing their jobs. i’ve found doctors take me seriously when i act like i am unintelligent and uninformed. they don’t like patients using medical terms. only they are allowed to know those words
harley 🍏@clowneatingpig

Reddit is so horrifying bc you can go to a sub for people with health problems and see tons of people desperate for help, strategizing on how to be taken seriously, and then you go to a doctor sub and it's full of professionals talking about hysterical women and blue hair.

Why do girls think travel can replace motherhood? Every time I tweet about wanting a baby girls are like “but there’s so much world to explore” like ok why does that concern me? How is going to see some random landscape going to fill the gap in my heart that screams for a child?

Widow here ✋🏻 happy to explain… When my husband passed away I was a shell of a person - I describe that first year after he was gone as mostly an out of body experience - I was doing things like taking our son to school and working, but I was not “there”…I was present in body only…just going through the motions and trying to process my grief on the outer edges of life’s regular demands. When the men he worked with - who loved him and would have happily laid down in traffic for him - hugged me it was exactly like this. A full and complete embrace. It was like a breath of life that gave me enough strength to make it through another day… I remember on the day of his funeral - as each one of those men - his bothers in arms - showed up and hugged me like this - it was the thing that gave me the strength to endure that day. So, when I see Erika hugging the men who miss her husband as much as she does, I can feel it- and I am so grateful she has these moments of reprieve from the crushing heartache of losing him. Hope this helps

How would you describe these moments between Erika Kirk and JD Vance last night?

As a conservative Christian parent, here’s my possibly heretical take on Halloween: Don’t die on that hill. We never made it a holy day, but we never made it a horror either. Our kids dressed up, knocked on doors, and basked in the (rare) personal candy stash. Later, our church hosted a Trunk or Treat, and we used it as a chance to love our neighbors as ourselves, with chocolate. Yes, you should shelter your young kids from evil. The gore, the witchcraft, the neighbor’s inflatable demon, shield those little eyes. But rejecting Halloween altogether? IMO- more harm than good. Here’s why: Parenting is full of non-negotiables. The Commandments still stand. •Tell the truth- to us and others. No deception, not a word. •No drugs. Not a puff, powder or pill EVER. •Honor your body. No access until marriage, full stop. •Christ above all. Above grades, gold, gadgets, and group chats. Those are the hills worth dying on. Outside of that (especially as teens) we offer lots of freedom- style of dress, what they watch, where they go to school, the music they listen to, how they earn and spend their money, and whether or not to go trick-or-treating. If every household rule comes with a “thus saith the Lord,” don’t be surprised when they tune out the Lord along with you.

You don’t see neighborhoods like this anymore because most young parents don’t own homes. Less than 5% of mortgage holders are under 30 in major metros, and the average homeowner is over 50. That’s why most neighborhoods or suburbs feel empty, they’re owned by older people whose kids are grown, while younger families are renting apartments & priced out of the communities.

*Mass shooting against Muslims* Dem politicians: we must stop Islamaphobia *Mass shooting against Jews* Dem politicains: we must stop antisemitism *Mass shooting against Christians* Dem politicians: we must stop... uh.... violence in general! They hate you

We can't allow ourselves to become numb to mass shootings. What happened today in Minneapolis is heartbreaking, and Michelle and I are praying for the parents who have lost a child or will be sitting at their hospital bedside after yet another act of unspeakable, unnecessary violence.

I can't believe Millie Bobby Brown got married and became a mother at 21 instead of pushing past children to get a picture with Goofy at Disney world like a normal 21 year old.

Better to get married as soon as you’re ready with a buffet of pizza and sheet cake than to delay marriage and kids while saving up for a wedding with servers and idk squab

My friend just told me one of her greatest wins as a mom was when she was at the doctor’s with her 12 year old daughter and the doctor asked “would you like gardisil for your daughter today” and she replied “no we won’t be getting that” and then the doctor went on the whole shilling for pharma rant and then looked at my friend’s daughter and said “just to let you know, next year you can come in and get this shot on your own without your mom” and the girl looked at the doctor and said “I talk to my mom about everything. Why do you think I would come in here behind her back to get that from you?”
