Apparently, if a crate is not 100% human written, it is OT for /r/rust: reddit.com/r/rust/comment…. I have been working on Toasty for 3 years, 9 months with AI tools. I am proud of the code quality and stand by it. By their standard, the entire tokio-rs GitHub org is now OT.

@boshen_c I've seen fairly similar - blog.howardjohn.info/posts/go-build…. I think Go's compile speed is way over hyped

@HelmPack @mattfarina What is in Helm 4? I've read quite a bit of Helm 4 content and not yet seen any indication of what is changed
English

The first alpha for #helm4 is out! Check out @mattfarina’s blog post outlining the planned timeline leading up to our release in mid-Nov at #KubeCon 🍂

@serathius @Itsuugo Oh but I guess you don't want the full encoded thing in memory at once. So you probably would need some sort of lazy Buffer implementation maybe - not sure it would work end to end
English

@serathius @Itsuugo Basically you can give it [][]byte instead of []byte when you encode now (@v1.72.1/encoding#CodecV2" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">pkg.go.dev/google.golang.…). In my case we have a repeated `Any` so we not only wanted to split up the bytes but not have to copy them (Any already is basically just wrapping []byte)

@ibuildthecloud @GoLandIDE On top of this formatting has been broken for me - half the time it formats imports it just mangles the whole file..
English

THE INDEXING IN @GoLandIDE HAS GOTTEN SO BAD LATELY. It's so frustrating the amount of out of sync index issues I keep hitting. The quality of goland releases has gone down. The bar is high for their products and it just take one or two major bugs to sour the experience.

@xu_paco @wzshiming Nice! Curious, how is it beta if the containerd support just merged? Was it implemented in a different way before and now can use native containerd implementation or something?
English

@wzshiming ‘s PR github.com/containerd/con… image volume support in containerd was merged 👍 and the KEP in kubernetes will be beta in v1.33

Today marks exactly 6 years from my first commit of a long journey to make @IstioMesh scale.
When I first started, a 100 pod mesh was a "big" mesh. Today, we can handle anything - 100 *million* pods and beyond!
Service mesh scalability is a solved problem.

Top KubeCon question: "Does ambient mesh scale?"
Yes, but a more useful question is "How much effort does it take to scale"?
blog.howardjohn.info/posts/scaling-… covers this in depth.

@cmanolache @linsun_unc Yep exactly, goal was to show HTTP processing overhead (or lack of overhead, really).
The aggregate data throughput here is not huge, something like 50Mb/s or so -- bottleneck here is more latency than throughput since its a bunch of tiny messages.
English

@_howardjohn @linsun_unc But the interesting part is that L7 metrics are collected - I assume that's the real point, not L4 tunneling overhead ( still good to be clear if it's http2 or 1).

@cmanolache @linsun_unc Nope, definitely cannot do that much on 1 node with Envoy 🙂. Just Ztunnel
