I will wake you with a poem
so don’t expect breakfast
don’t look for anything like that.
But a poem… yes.
Perhaps a little sorrowful
or perhaps one with its feet off the ground.
I feel a bit guilty for still not buying you a planet
yet we were supposed to run through the rings of Saturn.
I would have tied my hair back
and even in the void of space, you would have looked at me without squinting.
Then, there would be no gravity in our home
so we wouldn't have to settle any furniture.
Just an old sweater of yours would float in the air
its sleeve a bit crooked, because that’s just how you fold it.

but your grief
