- Solana is extremely fast once a transaction is included in a block The real challenge is landing that transaction in the right slot when the network is congested
During heavy load transactions can be
- Dropped before reaching the leader
- Outbid by higher priority fees
- Expire due to blockhash limits
- Miss full blocks
Independent data suggests failure rates of ~20% for transfers with even higher rates for bots and high frequency trading Priority fees improve the odds but they don't guarantee execution

This uncertainty falls into two categories
- Reactive
Liquidations or cancel orders that become necessary the instant a condition is met. If they miss the next slot, the opportunity is gone
- Scheduled

Today both compete for the same public blockspace as every other transaction with no dedicated execution lane
