Just a couple years ago, I would sit in my office watching YouTube videos of ICSI and day dream about learning to micromanipulate embryos 💭 Now I have my own cool video to share! These are cow zygotes 🐮

NIH indirect costs fund the backbone of research: maintaining labs, ensuring safety, and supporting admin work. These are essential for groundbreaking discoveries. Drastic cuts to NIH indirect rates are detrimental to academic biomedical research.

The NIH 15% cap on indirect costs will kneecap biomedical research in the US. Without essential infrastructure, there will be: Staff cuts Lab closures Fewer research projects Less scientific progress Loss of talent The US will no longer lead scientific & medical innovation.

New paper alert! Amazing grad students @levy_ezra and Isabella Leite live image female germline cyst formation in embryonic gonads of mice and discover that even as these structures form, through divisions with incomplete cytokinesis, germ cells are incredibly motile.

@UFjbromfield @ufpjhansen We found its sister ovary too, and it looked the same! A happy day for us, especially knowing Dr. Hansen’s oocytes from a similar phenotype were functional! I’m sure the farmer that culled this sow wouldn’t have been happy to know that… especially if she was fertile 🤣

@_jadanix_ Anecdotally, we seen human blasts with 2 ICMs on opposite poles quite frequently--but IME I've never seen in mouse!

I have a sneaking suspicion that this may be a monozygotic twin blastocyst! That looks like two beautiful ICMs to me. What does embryo Twitter think? (in vitro produced cattle blastocyst 🐮)
