I named two (yes, two) of my sons after this incredible man. I could not have been more thrilled to see his name in the announcement today. He was my second University President at @byuidaho and he had a huge impact on me and my wife.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints@Ch_JesusChrist

Elder Clark G. Gilbert (@ClarkG_Gilbert) is the newest member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was called on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, and ordained on Thursday, February 12, by President Dallin H. Oaks (@OaksDallinH) and the other members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. Elder Gilbert, 55, was born in Oakland, California, and spent most of his childhood in Phoenix, Arizona. He has served as a General Authority Seventy since April 2021 and as the Commissioner of the Church Educational System since August of that year. “This is an amazing time to point people to the Savior Jesus Christ,” Elder Gilbert said on Thursday. “When we do that, we can find joy and comfort and peace in Him. As President [Russell M.] Nelson once said, it’s much harder to find happiness where it doesn’t exist. And we’re so grateful that I have this calling now to witness that Jesus is the Christ. If people all across the world will look to Him, He will make their lives better, more meaningful, more joyful. And it happens in and through our Savior Jesus Christ.” Learn more on Church Newsroom. newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/clark-…

I’ve spent real time investigating other faiths. Catholicism, evangelical Christianity, Judaism, Islam, even Buddhism. I’ve studied the Bible closely, read the Qur’an, explored the Torah, the Bhagavad Gita, and other religious writings with an open mind and honest intent. What I kept coming back to is this: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the only place where the doctrine, covenants, priesthood authority, and lived experience all line up for me. It does not just teach me about Christ. It binds me to Him through covenants, gives structure to repentance and grace, and answers the deepest questions I actually live with. That conclusion did not come from tradition or comfort. It came from study, prayer, and years of testing what truly brings light, consistency, and change into my life.

The first copies of the Book of Mormon rolled off the press in 1830. Today, it has been distributed more widely than any other book that was originally published in English.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints maintains the most extensive self-reliant network, including welfare farms, production facilities, and vast strategic reserves of grains, dairy, and essentials. Their bishops' storehouses and logistics enable rapid distribution to members worldwide, funded by tithing rather than external aid. This system, designed for disruptions, sustains millions through owned assets and emphasizes communal preparedness, outscaling groups like Amish communities or smaller co-ops.

In April, President Nelson said something that made me completely rethink virtue: "The Lord tells us to garnish our thoughts unceasingly with virtue. Imagine the boost you will receive to any positive thought when you enhance it with virtue. Virtue makes everything better and happier! On the other hand, imagine what will happen when you add virtue to an impure thought, a cruel thought, or a depressing thought. Virtue will drive away those thoughts. Virtue will free you from anxious, troublesome thoughts." For me, it was such a revelation, because it meant that I don't have to feel shame for bad thoughts, because they are natural and everyone has them- but we get to choose whether to entertain them or to "add virtue" to those thoughts. I never understood that is what the scripture meant, to "garnish [our] thoughts". Maybe this is obvious for everyone else, but the way President Nelson said it was a revelation to me. Keep the faith, @josephtrimmer

I have a very strong testimony of this. I used to be an angry self centered wreck that was looking for ways to change the world and everything but myself. Joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has made me change from within and made me begin to shine in ways I never thought possible.

Rather than changing our circumstances, our Heavenly Father can change us and our hearts so we then can change our circumstances. This strength to change comes from Jesus Christ—an incredible gift from a loving God.

I cannot express the gratitude that I feel for the trust from the Lord and the trust that President Oaks has shown to me. I love him and can testify that I know that he is the head of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by inspiration. I have seen the power of God come upon Him. I’m so grateful for the people whose faith I know will sustain us in this great work of the restoration and the final preparation of the Lord’s Church for His coming. I bear you my testimony that preparation is occurring and that President Oaks is the perfect one to the do the things that I know the Lord will want done. I am grateful to be at his side. I testify Jesus is the Christ.

🕊️In his first interview as President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Dallin H. Oaks affirms, again, that we have a Mother in Heaven. “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints outlines the destiny of the children of God. And that destiny culminates in an eternal family: a Father in Heaven and a also Mother in Heaven; though we haven’t been given much information about Her for reasons God understands and we don’t”
