No return address. $40 inside. Note said “For the tickets. I got promoted. Making more. Can’t thank you enough. Paying it forward.” Sometimes $40 is just money. Sometimes it’s someone’s entire life. Their job. Their kids. Their chance. You never know what small amount means to someone. Until you give it.

men are wired in a way I can’t even explain. i just had a baby in March. my mom, the baby, and I left the house to run an errand before we met up with the rest of the family. we texted my husband to “bring a bottle.” when we got to the restaurant, with a straight face, my husband looks at me and says, “why did mom want a bottle of water?”
