i’m 21, from a small town in india. studying btech in a tier-3 college - which won't help me in anyway. i looked around and realised no one’s coming to save me, it’s on me to change my story. so in my first year, > i started exploring everything (coding, video editing, filmmaking, designing) > while others were chilling, i was figuring out what i actually wanted to do. > learnt html, css, and js. > then shifted to ui/ux, finished a udemy course. > then one day a frnd gave me my first freelance design work. i did it for just ₹500. > then came a few small gigs - social media handling, random design projects, just to make some money. in 2nd year, > i took coding seriously. joined @kirat_tw cohort. > started posting on here. slowly hit 1k followers. > made good frnds here, got my first freelance client in april. > he loved my work and referred me to another client. > completed 3+ projects since then. > bought myself a macbook m4. > no more asking parents for money. now i'm in 3rd year, learning app dev, building side projects, and betting on myself. if i fail, i’ll just start again. the internet literally changed my life. use it the right way. build in public. it’ll open more doors than you can imagine. 😌

Sometimes I stop and think about how far this has come. Not long ago I was a solo freelancer, no clients, no income, just a laptop and too much free time. No roadmap. No mentor. Just figuring it out as I went. Fast forward to today - an agency, products shipping, founders I've helped build their first MVPs. Still a long way to go, but I'm proud of the ground covered. What I know now: the work compounds. Every project you ship, every client you serve, every "no" you push through - it stacks up quietly until one day it doesn't feel quiet anymore. If you're a developer or founder right now who can't get traction - don't stop. The gap between where you are and where you want to be is just reps. Keep building. Keep shipping. Your breakthrough isn't that far off, I promise.

Building an Open-Source AI Gateway. A production-grade LLM proxy between your app and any AI provider. Instead of calling OpenAI, Gemini, or Claude directly, your app sends requests to the gateway. You change just one line in the OpenAI SDK. Everything else caching, routing, failover, analytics happens automatically. Why I built this - Every AI project eventually runs into the same problems. - Repeated prompts burn tokens and increase cost. Provider outages break production workflows. - Switching models or providers requires code changes. - And most teams have zero visibility into actual usage and cost. - I wanted a single layer that solves all of these problems at once. How the gateway works - The gateway acts as a stateless reverse proxy between the client and LLM providers. - Every request passes through a middleware pipeline that handles: • authentication • quota checks • Redis rate limiting • SHA-256 response caching • smart provider routing • streaming passthrough • async usage logging - If the request already exists in cache, the response is returned in under 10ms without calling any model. Multi-provider routing - The gateway exposes a single OpenAI-compatible API, but internally it can route requests to multiple providers. - Currently supported: • OpenAI • Google Gemini • Anthropic Claude - The proxy translates request formats and normalizes responses so the client always receives the same structure. - This means you can switch providers without changing your application code. Automatic failover - If a provider returns 429 or 5xx, the gateway automatically retries the request on another provider. - It uses: • exponential backoff • provider health tracking • Redis failure windows - If one provider goes down, traffic automatically shifts to the next one. - Your app never notices the outage. Data layer - The architecture uses two main data systems. - Upstash Redis : Handles response caching, rate limit counters, provider health flags, and request metrics. - Neon PostgreSQL + Prisma : Stores users, API keys, plan tiers, provider credentials, and usage logs. - Sensitive keys are encrypted and API keys are stored as SHA-256 hashes. Analytics dashboard - The project also includes a dashboard built with Next.js App Router. - You can see: • request volume • token usage • cost breakdown • cache hit rate • detailed request logs Tech stack - Proxy : Hono.js · Node.js · Docker - Dashboard : Next.js · Tailwind · shadcn/ui · Framer Motion - Data : Upstash Redis · Neon PostgreSQL · Prisma - Auth : NextAuth + bcrypt The goal is simple. - Give developers a single gateway for all AI providers with caching, reliability, and full cost visibility. - Fully self-hostable. 6 months ago a client told me he was going to vibe code his own web app. Honestly I was happy for him. Told him to go for it. Yesterday he messaged me. "bro web app is live. But I need a mobile app now." Sent him a $5k proposal. He paid same day. No negotiation. No "can you do it cheaper." Nothing. This is the thing nobody talks about - AI is commoditizing web development fast. Anyone with Claude and some patience can ship a decent web app now. Mobile is a different game. Clients still can't figure it out themselves. That's exactly where the money is right now. 📱
