Serendipity is what makes working in museum collections so much fun. I started out the day at the @burkemuseum looking for squirrel fossils and wound up stumbling across this beautiful 6 million-year-old jaw of a ringtail (a small carnivore related to raccoons).

We're mostly working in the modern mammal collections at the @burkemuseum this week, but fortunately @_katlande and the paleontology lab staff were able to give us a tour of the fabulous paleo facilities and collections that we've been missing out on this trip!
