Patricia Kakunda, a mobile money operator in Soroti, was tracked and shot dead during a violent robbery in early April 2026. Investigators believe the suspects planned the attack by tracking her movements. After the shooting, the assailants reportedly fled to a nearby swamp to share the stolen money. Police have conducted a reconstruction of the crime scene and have arrested several suspects linked to a wider racket targeting mobile money agents
