What a day for Context Compaction! > Morph trained a dedicated model for Context Compaction and yes, this is one of many usecases where SLMs fit and they shd win. > Cursor RLmaxxed again to self-summarize Composer and it effectively reduces error by 50% in Context Compaction.

@trq212 @travers00 I’m using both Opus 4.6 and GPT 5.4 for editing my novel and they are both useful, but in very different ways – they have dramatically different voices and even line-level, theme-level, characterization-level priorities.

@travers00 I think the models have a much more interesting and high dimensional texture than this GPT 5.4 is an excellent writer, Opus 4.6 is incredibly reliable at long running tasks they are very different but in hundreds of more subtle ways imo and it can change between generations

i find it kind of interesting that anthropic and openai's models and distribution seem inverted openai models are more reliable/accurate, more consistent, better for structured data processing = "inner loop" work claude models are more expressive, open-ended, better at taking abstract human input and orchestrating the final output = "outer loop" work yet openai owns the consumer endpoint with 900m weekly users on chatgpt - that looks like outer loop, but most consumer usage is actually simple, directed tasks. anthropic wins on api adoption and enterprise spend, which is increasingly "inner loop" more and more inference is shifting to background sub-agents, reliable always-on processing - that's where the volume is heading, even if the margin is largest at the outer loop. and more and more of the inner loop may get consumed by open source inference anyway

BREAKING: Google DeepMind is doubling down on London and expanding into a HUGE new office in King's Cross. @demishassabis has just announced Platform 37 - a new office and hub for AI innovation next to King’s Cross station. The name is a nod to “Move 37,” a pivotal play made by AlphaGo in the legendary 2016 match against Go world champion Lee Sae Dol. They are also launching "The AI Exchange", a new public space dedicated to deepening understanding of AI. The impact Demis has had on UK tech and AI cannot be understated. It's AMAZING to see him and team double down and create a new landmark site of the London tech scene.

15 weird London AI companies you've probably never heard of London's AI scene isn't just chatbots and SaaS. Some genuinely strange stuff happening. @PrimaMente – building "foundation models for the brain" to study Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. Hologen – frontier medical AI spinout tied to UCL/King's. Eric Schmidt involved. hologen.ai @baseimmune – AI-designed vaccines targeting rapidly mutating viruses. @RecursionPharma / @valence_ai – AI drug discovery platform combining chemistry, biology and machine learning. @CausalyAI – AI that reads scientific papers and maps biomedical knowledge graphs. Fractile – building new AI chip architecture. fractile.ai @mindgard – "red teaming" AI models to find vulnerabilities. @Limbic_ai – mental health triage AI used in NHS services. @LindusHealth – clinical trials run with AI infrastructure. Anima Health – AI triage platform for healthcare providers. animahealth.com AUAR – robots that build buildings. AI for automated construction. auar.io @testudoglobal – insurance for the AI economy. Isomorphic Labs – DeepMind spinout doing AI drug discovery. isomorphiclabs.com BenevolentAI – one of the earliest AI drug discovery companies. benevolent.com London AI ecosystem is weirder than people think. Still mapping more. Comment any i've missed so far. londonmaxxxing.com

This was such a fun and tense moment: I remember watching the model’s value function updating in real time as the matches unfolded. And ten years on we are using the same core concepts but making moves in chemical space, with equally mindblowing consequences 🤯
Demis Hassabis@demishassabis

Ten years ago, AlphaGo’s legendary match in Seoul heralded the start of the modern era in AI. Its famous ‘Move 37’ signaled to us that AI techniques were ready to tackle real-world problems in areas like science - and ideas inspired by these methods are critical to building AGI

A post regarding the two individuals arrested for throwing homemade bombs outside of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s home failed to reflect the gravity of the incident thereby breaching the editorial standards we require for all our reporting. It has therefore been deleted.

England’s national epic is Shakespeare’s Henriad. Beowulf is awesome, but it’s not a national epic of England. For one, it had zero cultural influence until it was rediscovered in the 19th century from a single 10th century manuscript. Before that, nobody was reading it. It’s never referenced in other English literature. Secondly, the events have approximately nothing to do with England. They take place in Scandinavia. Meanwhile Shakespeare’s Henriad tells the story of the Hundred Years War and England’s great warrior king Henry V. Also the War of the Roses and creation of the Tudors if you include all 8 plays. It was performed for kings. It was insanely popular in its day and remains hugely influential on the Anglo psyche. And its influence on the English language is second only to the King James Bible.
