Your ideology is more important than the very people you claim to serve, Starlink will give greater and cheaper access in a country with the most expensive data prices. I’m glad that Starlink is coming, we should make it happen faster. I support it wholeheartedly.

A misleading claim was made this week that the Democratic Alliance (DA) controls the police in the Western Cape. This is completely false. Let’s be clear: the South African Police Service (SAPS) is a national government function. It is not under the control of the Western Cape Provincial Government or the City of Cape Town — both of which are led by the DA. The DA has no operational authority over SAPS in the province or anywhere else in the country. SAPS has been under the direct control of the national government for the past 31 years. The DA has consistently called for the devolution of policing powers, so provinces and cities can take responsibility for local safety — including prosecution-led investigations and intelligence-driven policing. But these proposals have been blocked by certain individuals in national government for political reasons. Claiming the DA "controls the police" in the Western Cape is not just factually incorrect — it distracts from the real issue: a centralised, generally dysfunctional police that is not serving the needs of communities that all face different issues in different areas.

This afternoon, we made an oversight visit to the City Hall. This iconic city asset has remained unused for years. Several years ago over R70 million was invested by the City to renovate the building, but the project wasn’t completed. This is a heritage site that must be preserved and utilised. @CityTshwane
