Being a Molvi in Pakistan gives you a free pass to break every single law in the country, undermine the state, endanger the lives of everyday people and then be put on a pedestal for it. A truly wonderful existence.

Sorry but no - not all Pakistani lives matter the same. You literally have laws which enshrine inequality into the DNA of the country. You have shops which refuse service to people of certain faiths. You have buildings where people from the wrong religion can’t rent homes...

The only people still surprised by the callousness of the state are the ones who don’t have to live with the consequences of it every day.

And with it they will bury any semblance of decency and conscience we had remaining.

i hope things get better for minorities. i know they only get worse. but despite it i hope pakistan owns its people rather than pushing them back to margins. it takes pride in them instead of wiping their memory and history off of its conscious.

People ask themselves "is this appropriate", we do it differently here we have to ask ourselves "would this get me killed by a mob, or have I hidden what I mean well enough". Living in Pakistan can train you well if you're the right combinations of oppression-able.

For an officer to effectively blame a woman for being gang raped by saying she should have taken the GT Road or question as to why she went out in the night with her children is unacceptable & have taken up this issue. Nothing can ever rationalise the crime of rape. That's it.
