Engineering is a primitive form of biology, we do not understand biology yet, so we work with what we can. Building @ Hanomi || x NASA || x F1

Blinking Eye
I reused the AI board I have built and pointed it at one small task:
a smooth open/close height animation + movie reference.
That’s it.
No new setup.
No extra complexity.
Just my AI software firm running a structured workflow with the tools I already made.
More complex stuff coming soon 🧵

Everyone’s hyped about AI email assistants.
I built something different.
An orchestrator that spins up multiple Claude instances in the backend, each with a dedicated role (CTO, engineer, etc.) working together to tackle complex tasks autonomously.
You interact with your AI “software firm” live via dashboard or Slack. You’re the board member. They execute.
Early days, but I have been using this for the last couple of weeks! More updates coming soon. 🧵

We've uploaded a fruit fly. We took the @FlyWireNews connectome of the fruit fly brain, applied a simple neuron model (@Philip_Shiu Nature 2024) and used it to control a MuJoCo physics-simulated body, closing the loop from neural activation to action.
A few things I want to say about what this means and where we're going at @eonsys. 🧵

Random thought from everyday housework 👇
For years, one of my parents’ wardrobe doors wouldn’t close. Heavy solid wood + time = the door sagged, rubbed the frame, and made that awful squeak.
Fix? “Just lift the hinges a bit.”
Reality? A woodworker quoted $200+ for what felt like a 10-minute issue.
So my dad and I said: nope.
We measured the hinge mount, recreated it in CAD, generated toolpaths, and machined a new part on the DIY CNC we built when I was a kid… after ~4 failed iterations 😅💀 (and lots of travelling downstairs to the ‘lab’)
It worked. But… why was this so hard?
Should small home fixes be this complicated in 2025?
What would it look like if you could describe the problem to a laptop and it designed the part automatically?
And how do we make that accessible to people who don’t know CAD/CAM at all?

@fabworks_guy Nice modularity! But those screws had better be brave enough for some shear load

@aphysicist Fair point, tho a 5min design mistake can turn into massive manufacturing problems later

@TomSmithMFG Is a base raft also important for this nozzle size?
