Disney employed 2,200 animators who made Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and Tarzan. By 2013, nearly all of them were gone. Fired. The people who built Disney’s legacy were shown the door because executives thought the problem was 2D animation. It wasn’t. It was bad storytelling.

1989年に公開されたディズニーを代表する名作[リトル・マーメイド]。 今作の大きな特長として[音楽の良さ]を挙げる方は沢山いるかと思います。 中でもセバスチャンが海の素晴らしさを説く為に歌った[アンダー・ザ・シー]は… 今や誰もが知る定番カリプソポップソングとして不動の地位を築いています。 誰もが一度は聴いた事があるであろう…ディズニーをも代表する言わずと知れた超大ヒットミュージカルソング。 アラン・メンケンが[ベッド飾りとほうき]の[The Beautiful Briny]という曲を参考に作曲したと言われており… 陽気で多幸感溢れ、、尚且つ恐ろしくポップなカリプソポップ。 陸の世界に憧れるアリエルにセバスチャンが海での暮らしの素晴らしさを説く楽曲なのですが… この曲…自分は何回聴いても泣けてきちゃうんですよね。 あまりに楽しくて。 あまりに明るくて。 あまりに見事で。 多幸感に溢れ過ぎてて泣けてくるんです。 人って…あまりにも楽しい物・幸せな物を見せつけられると泣けてくるんだなと…この曲で知りました。 様々なバージョンがありますが個人的にはやはりオリジナル映画版が最も好きです。 Cメロ〜大サビで大体泣いちゃいますね。 サミュエル・E・ライト、そして吹替版の上條恒彦さんの歌運びがちょっとズルいくらい最高で。 そしてこれ大事なポイントだと思うんですが、、 最初は浮かない顔をしていたアリエルがこの曲の進行に合わせ徐々に楽しそうな表情に変化していくんですよね。 陸の世界に憧れるアリエルですが…故郷である海を愛する気持ちはセバスチャンと同じ。 それをさらにダイレクトに表現した2023年の実写リメイク版も本当に好きです。 この曲聴いてたら…アリエルじゃなくても海で暮らしたくなっちゃいますね。 それくらい幸せと楽しさに満ちた… いつ聴いても元気が貰える最高の一曲。 皆さんも勿論…大好きですよね？ あと余談ですが… この楽曲は[リトル・マーメイドⅢ]を観てから聴くとより感動と味わい深さが倍増するんじゃないかなと個人的には思っています。 もし機会があればこちらもご覧になってみて下さい♪
