Honestly, just kept applying. You already have the experience and your portfolio, make sure you use that. I applied to over 300 jobs on upwork and it was after 50+ applications before I got my first client. Steps in your control 1. Optimize your profile and do all your verification 2. Make sure you have a good portfolio 3. Start applying 4. Make sure your cover letter is short and straight to the point. They don't have time for too much talk, they just want to know if you can do the job or not. 5. Have a good hook to hold their attention 6. Have a clear CTA 7. Make sure you read and understand what they need before anything. Apply to only jobs that have these: 1. Payment verified 2. Less than 15 proposals sent (the less, the better) 3. Skip jobs from clients who already have invited freelancers and those who are interviewing more than one person 4. Their hire rate should be above 50% 5. Use the client name if it's available 6. Avoid clients with less than 3 stars (they are problematic)

I've spent over 6 years freelancing on Upwork and I grew to top rated plus in less than 2 years. I know I don't talk about it alot but today's Easter and I'm feeling extra generous. @ziscolwp You’re right about that. Fast thresholds prove you can game the algorithm. But real retention proves you’re actually solving problems worth sticking around for and I have already considered this for my channel.
