I’ll never understand how so many people were manipulated into believing the government shouldn’t use the tax money you pay to fund services and create systems that benefit you.

Albert Einstein and Hannah Arendt's 1948 letter to the New York Times: They saw the creation of a Jewish ethnostate in Palestine at the expense of its indigenous Muslim and Christian population as a profound injustice and moral catastrophe. Einstein and the other signatories explicitly compared Begin’s Herut (Freedom Party), born from the Irgun, to Nazis and Fascists, warning that their ideology of racial superiority and violent ethnic nationalism posed a grave danger to the moral and political future of the new state. - - - Full text of Einstein and Hannah Arendt's letter to the New York Times: TO THE EDITOR OF THE NEW YORK TIMES December 2, 1948 Among the most disturbing political phenomena of our time is the emergence in the newly created State of Israel of the “Freedom Party” (Tnuat Haherut), a political party closely akin in its organization, methods, political philosophy, and social appeal to the Nazi and Fascist parties. It was formed out of the membership and following of the former Irgun Zvai Leumi, a terrorist, right-wing, chauvinist organization in Palestine. The current visit of Menachem Begin, leader of this party, to the United States is obviously calculated to give the impression of American support for his party in the coming Israeli elections and to cement political ties with Zionist elements in the United States. Several Americans of national repute have lent their names to welcome his visit. It is inconceivable that those who oppose fascism throughout the world could condone, even by silence, the appearance of such a party in Israel. Within the Jewish community they have preached an admixture of ultra-nationalism, religious mysticism, and racial superiority. Like other fascist parties, they have been used to break strikes, and they have encouraged demoralization among labor. In their actions they have been marked by cruelty and contempt for human life. During the recent past, they have systematically terrorized the Arab population, attacked Jewish settlements, and sabotaged the rescue of displaced Jews from Europe. A shocking example was their behavior in the Arab village of Deir Yassin. This village, off the main roads and surrounded by Jewish lands, had taken no part in the war and had even fought off Arab bands that wanted to use it as their base. On April 9 (1948), terrorist bands attacked this peaceful village, which was not a military objective in the fighting, killed most of its inhabitants — 240 men, women, and children — and kept a few of them alive to parade through the streets of Jerusalem. Most of the Jewish community was horrified at the deed, and the Jewish Agency sent an apology to King Abdullah of Transjordan. But the terrorists, far from being ashamed of their act, were proud of it, widely publicized it, and invited foreign correspondents to view the corpses and the ravaged village. The Deir Yassin incident exemplifies the character and actions of the Freedom Party. Within the Jewish community they have attempted to institute a reign of terror, have beaten up Jews who opposed them, and have, by gangster methods, terrorized the population. It is inconceivable that those who oppose fascism throughout the world could condone, even by silence, the appearance of such a party in Israel. The undersigned therefore take this means of publicly presenting a warning to the American people concerning a danger to be found in the Freedom Party in Israel, a danger to which the leadership of Menachem Begin gives the greatest emphasis. (Signed): Albert Einstein, Hannah Arendt, Sidney Hook, Rabbi Jessurun Cardozo, Irma Lindheim, and 22 other Jewish scholars, writers, and public figures. (Published December 4, 1948, in The New York Times.)

This is the entire point of them trying to defund USPS. They will make you all reliant on capitalism instead of a government funded mailing system so that they can choose how to punish you when you don't meet their demands.

I never stop being amazed by them. Launching their “Birdhouse” — a strategic-class missile worth around $100 million, capable of carrying a nuclear warhead — at a garage complex in the Kyiv region. Let’s calculate how much this night cost them. One “Oreshnik” — roughly $100 million. Around ninety cruise and ballistic missiles: Kh-101s, Kalibrs, Iskander-Ks — at an average price of about $8 million each — that’s another roughly $720 million. Six hundred Shahed drones at $50,000 each — another $30 million. Plus fuel, launch platforms, maintenance, reconnaissance. Total: around $850 million for a single night. Nearly a billion dollars. And what did they get for that billion? They hit garages in Bila Tserkva. Destroyed the “Kvadrat” shopping mall. Set the roof of a dormitory on fire in Darnytskyi district. Blew apart an entrance section of a five-story apartment building in Shevchenkivskyi district. Hit a market. A supermarket. A construction hypermarket in Obolon. Dropped debris onto the Valeriy Lobanovskyi Dynamo Stadium. Two sleeping civilians killed. Fifty-six wounded, including children. Is this their strategic result for a billion dollars? This is their “special operation.” This is their “greatness.” They cannot move forward on the battlefield. Cannot seize a single truly significant settlement. Cannot defeat the army of a country they promised to capture in three days four years ago. And in convulsions, in agony, in powerless rage, they strike residential neighborhoods at night — museums, markets, shops, garages. Impotent on the battlefield, compensating for their failure with the number of munitions fired at sleeping civilians. Blind evil and helplessness at the same time. Monsters. Simply monsters. Rabid, paranoid lunatics with a nuclear button. I have no other words left for them.

Very bad sign. Trump continues to disrupt longstanding American foreign policies that are disruptive and destabilizing. Avoiding war over Taiwan is a paramount US national interest. Maintaining deterrence helps to keep the peace.

It’s really something how billionaires have rigged the rules to let them vacuum up all of society’s wealth & then fund think tanks and buy media properties that blame poverty and homelessness and despair on literally everything other than billionaires vacuuming up all the wealth

Numbers matter when you are talking 50 destroyed Russian trucks on their most important logistical roads in a week. 50 out of a 1,000 trucks is 5%. 50 out of 2,500 trucks is 2% Say half that 50 (25) are fuel trucks out of a fuel truck fleet of 150 tanker trucks. 1/

🇹🇷#Turkey: The crackdown on the opposition in Turkey is intensifying. Today, riot police forcibly entered the HQ of the main opposition party, the Republican People’s Party (CHP), with the objective of removing its current leadership. This follows a politically driven court ruling intended to weaken the party ahead of the next elections. The decision is only the latest in a long series of actions against the opposition. Since March 2025, the party’s presidential candidate and Mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem İmamoğlu, has been imprisoned and faces a total of 2,430 years in prison. In 2019, his election as Mayor of Istanbul was annulled by the courts, before he won the rerun election again by an even larger margin. He also reacted today to the court’s decision, describing it as a "palace coup". The photo below shows Özgür Özel, the leader removed by this court decision, marching through the streets of the country’s capital to denounce the ruling. "They tried to uproot us and throw us out - but to where?" said Özgür Özel to a crowd of supporters. He also added that the party would "from now on be in the streets and public squares, marching towards power".

This is the moment Turkish police stormed the headquarters of the main opposition party. Police used tear gas and rubber bullets to forcefully enter CHP’s headquarters - the party that founded modern Turkey. These dramatic scenes unfolded following a court ruling that unseated the party’s current leader Özgür Özel. The move is widely seen by critics as President Erdogan’s attempt to eliminate his rivals using judiciary means. Turkey’s oldest political party CHP has secured record victories against President Erdogan’s AKP, who has been in power for the past 24 years. Since the CHP's victories in the 2024 local elections, there has been a mounting campaign of arrests and judicial interventions against the party. CHP leader Özel vowed for resistance saying he’ll fight to the end.

Preis in Europa: 233 Dollar pro Königin. 🇪🇺🌍

Erin Brockovich has launched a website and has begun tracking all data centers in America and logging resident complaints In just 1 week it’s already logged 1,690 resident complaints For this who don’t remember Erin Brockovich was the paralegal responsible for winning out a case against PG&E, Hinckley in California, because their wastewater runoff was seeping into rural areas and creating a lot of health issues for, for the surrounding neighborhoods That case brought in a $333 million settlement that went to the families affected by the situation because a lot of them either had staggering medical bills due to their tap water was no longer safe So why is this important, well residents all over America are reporting their tap water and river water is being heavily polluted by data centers Her map of data centers is new, she just launched it The website features an interactive US map showing operational, under-construction, and proposed AI data centers, overlaid with community-reported complaints Residents can submit reports with details, photos, and locations. Within days of launch, it received a surge of submissions over 1,600 in the first week, and reports of 1,800+ from 47 states shortly after Common Resident Complaints Being Logged - Water usage - Raising utility bills for residents - Noise pollution: Constant 24/7 humming from fans, generators, and cooling systems disrupting sleep, daily life, and wildlife. - E-waste from frequent hardware upgrades, pollution including PFAS concerns

I think I stated changing my view about Israel at a 1980s party in Manhattan where someone raised a New York Times story about IDF making it policy to break hands of Palestinian boys. “There goes a generation of Palestinian pianists!”, one wit quipped. They all laughed. I walked away, left soon.
