6 days and 21 hours for 10,000 subs I remember sitting on a train and checking youtube studio every minute Couldn't believe what was happening, I told my friends that I'd be happy with 100 views Video has 2.1M today >find an idea that makes the viewer incredibly curious >like I just HAVE to see this video >I actually tested this by telling chess players about potential ideas and this particular idea always made them ask "which chess opening is it?? Is it good? Can you show me?" like they really wanted to know >find a unique new style (this was new in chess) >blend styles from different niches >I basically copied a real estate video idea, a markiplier intro, wojak animation editing style, a specific gaming youtubers dry humor style, and mixed it all in a chess video so that I created something completely new and original even though I basically copied multiple proven styles >make the content actually enjoyable and helpful (if educational) >end the video with "this was my first video, subscribe now because I'll be your [topic] coach to [achieve goal]" >important because you have to make people stick around and comment something like "the birth of a new legendary _____ channel" so they emotionally invest in your upcoming >keep pinning and hearting the glaze comments to incentivize glazing (I don't do this today, but day 1 I did this to form the fanbase)

anthropic is at risk of making a big mistake it's something we've seen too many times before imagine having the crazy goal of building a platform - something thousands of companies and products are built on top of you realize just building the platform isn't enough, so you start to build tools that make it easier to use the platform and demonstrate its capabilities these tools get their own names and identities and teams working on them and very quickly these teams forget they only exist to drive people onto the platform and then one day someone external makes a tool that accomplishes that goal and does it even better it should be a moment of success - this is the original dream, to see great things built for your platform but structurally these teams have long forgotten that so it's a moment of competition. in the worst cases they even try to squash it we've experienced this building SST and how some teams at AWS saw our work as competitive even as we were driving dollars to AWS and tapping into a market they could never reach there are exceptions - cloudflare has invested resources in helping us even though they have wrangler, somehow their teams are setup in a way to not see us as a threat but it's a real test - we'll soon be able to see if anthropic as an org is really aligned with becoming a platform or if they fall into this same trap

Last month I handed in my notice @Overtime & @OvertimeGG. I have been building the gaming brand since the age of 14 - fast forward 8 years, and now I'm 22, nearly one third of my entire existence 😅 I couldn't be prouder of what we built over those years. For anyone who was a part of Overtime, you will know how much the brand meant to me. The recording sessions, late nights, events, & even the staff meetings will be moments I look fondly on for the rest of my life. To think that offering to design a logo for free spiralled into this is pretty insane to look back on. We first started building in 2019, and just a year or two later, we were acquired by Overtime. At 16, I left school & went full-time at Overtime, running all our socials, recording our content, managing our talent, onboarding talent etc, like many startups, a little bit of everything. I never imagined leaving Overtime, so honestly, this feels a little weird to write. I'm not sure if there is a "best way" to pay homage to the experience - the amount we accomplished in the time we did is something I am incredibly proud of. Truthfully, I may have held on a little too long, but it was one hell of a run... I'm looking forward to putting all my time and effort moving forward into @zygomedia and the work we do with our clients. If you're reading this & you were a part of Overtime Gaming in any capacity - thank you.

@peer_rich youtube does not earn anything on these direct creator <> brand deals so they are working on their own specific brand deal feature so they might be trying to make these direct creator <> brand ads less effective to get both parties on their platform blog.youtube/news-and-event…
