Raviv Drucker, an Israeli journalist who presents an investigative program on Israel’s Channel 13, doesn’t mince his words and offers what must be said by those who actually care about Israel’s democratic ethos and rule of law: "When dozens of masked people beat Palestinians for no reason, other than wanting to expel them, that's Jewish terrorism. When there's a Telegram group where they proudly boast about the number of houses set on fire and cars burnt every week, that's Jewish terrorism. Arab terrorism is much more serious. The number of victims from Palestinian terrorists is immeasurably high. But at least the state is fighting Arab terrorism. Against Jewish terrorism, we’re not so sure. "The Shin Bet, with or without connection to the identity of the organization’s new head, is not felt. The Judea and Samaria District Police is not involved. The Minister of Defense forbids the issuance of administrative orders, and the army seems to be content with lip service."

BREAKING: Rabbi Yehuda Gilad, head of Yeshivat Ma’ale Gilboa, visited Khirbet Humsa in the West Bank following a settler pogrom in which a 29-year-old Palestinian farmer was sexually assaulted, his family was beaten, and hundreds of his sheep were stolen. Below is his full statement, translated from Hebrew: Letter from the Head of the Yeshiva, Rabbi Yehuda Gilad With God’s help, Rosh Chodesh Nisan — “a time of atonement for all their generations” Yesterday I went through a very difficult and deeply disturbing experience. I visited Khirbet Humsa (about a 30-minute drive from our yeshiva), where a pogrom carried out by hilltop youth took place about a week ago. I heard the details of what happened there from several sources, including Ruti — a woman I have known for years and trust completely. It turns out that in the early hours of the night, a group of rioters (around 30–40 people) arrived, equipped with sticks and many zip ties. They bound the men (and apparently also two foreign volunteers, though I am not certain of this), and then beat them all over their bodies with fists and clubs. We saw many remnants of the zip ties on the ground. The men required treatment at the hospital in Afula for injuries of varying severity. At the same time, the attackers stole the entire herd — about 300 head — belonging to the few families living there, under unimaginable conditions of poverty. At first, I heard that there had also been sexual violence, and I did not believe it… Yesterday we arrived at the site with Ruti, a friend of mine who is well known to them. When they saw us — Rabbi Avidan Friedman and myself — they visibly recoiled in terror and anxiously pointed to the kippot on our heads. Ruti tried to calm them, explaining that we were not among the attackers. Even so, at the beginning of the meeting, they were hesitant and afraid. I heard directly from a young man — a firsthand witness — what had happened there. From his face, the blue bruise in his eye, and his sorrowful expression, it was clear he was telling the truth. In that same conversation (with the help of a translator), he described in detail the prolonged abuse they endured while bound. Then, with deep shame, he told us something I had previously found impossible to believe. I find it difficult — my hands tremble as I write this about Jews — and yet I will write it, because I am convinced it indeed happened. Yes, these wicked individuals bound his genitals in an extremely painful way — not to mention the humiliation involved. These events recall the pogroms our ancestors endured in various diasporas. Have we become like the worst of the nations? I want to turn to the question: what should be done? But I feel that I am still at the stage of crying out. Alas — what has become of us!

Since the start of the current war with Iran, many Israelis have been asking how it can be that the same IDF which is now dominating the skies over Tehran and intercepting more than 90% of Iran's ballistic missiles, failed so miserably to protect Israel's borders on October 7, when more than 1,200 Israelis were killed or murdered within a single day by Hamas, supposedly Israel's weakest enemy. In my article for @unherd I offer an uncomfortable answer: that the Israeli Air Force's grandiose achievements thousands of miles away, and the military's collapse on the Gaza border two-and-a-half years ago, are two sides of the same coin; the end result of a years-long strategy of focusing on Iran as a singular and unique "existential threat", while dismissing the Palestinian issue as a nuisance, a mere distraction from the danger building up in Tehran. This strategy originated with Prime Minister Netanyahu, but was shared by many others in the Israeli political system and defense establishment. It affected the allocation of resources, the nature of intelligence assessments, and much more. Asking whether it was right strategy, or a blunder, is necessary not just in light of what eventually happened in Gaza and Tehran, but also because right now, while the eyes of the world are on Iran, a crisis on the Palestinian front could once again erupt. unherd.com/2026/03/bibis-…

Another reliable mainstream commentator, formerly senior army officer: “For 30 years, I have dealt with Palestinian terrorism in the territories, both as a former military man and as a civilian, including in courts. The term terrorism has academic parameters and clear professional definitions. And so, for those who are confused, there is Jewish terrorism in Judea and Samaria: terrorism of individuals, spontaneous terrorism, and organized terrorism. The responsibility for thwarting it - the Government of Israel. Unequivocally”.

After pressure from Washington to take action on the issue, the government will approve the establishment of a unit in the Ministry of Defense to deal with the hilltop youth, with a budget of 130 million shekels for the next three years.

Hundreds of settlers participated in a night of attacks on the Palestinian community across the occupied West Bank. This violence keeps escalating and expanding because the Israeli government doesn't want to enforce the law.

The implications of this phenomenon — spiralling violence, terror and counter-terror, the subordination of the army and state institutions to domestic terror, the importation of the practice into Israel proper — are so grave that we forget just how awful this thing is on its own.
